Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could work on their tan while they ate, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool and non-crispy.

All of the tables had some blue and gold glitter scattered across them, because there was always enough to go around. This school certainly was blesesed in all the right ways.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Jalian shrugged. "I've been well, though annoyed at males. Spending time on the mainland learning more about this timeline."

Well, males. Really, that spoke for itself, didn't it?

"Oh no," Elsa replied. "What have the boys been up to since I've been away?"

Starting trouble? Probably starting trouble.

"Mostly before you or I arrived," Jalian clarified. "Most of the countries seem stupid and run by males." Which were probably connected. "Although many of them are still stupid, yes. They have fought wars over pigs!"

Honestly, how was she supposed to stop Armageddon when anything would set these males off?

"Wars... over pigs?"

How in the world did Elsa manage to miss that one when trying to catch up on world history since her own time?

"Were they at least... important pigs...?"

"They were not," Jalian answered. "It was land two countries thought they owned, and one killed another's pig." She rolled her eyes. "Ken Selvren would just say to them, 'take one of the other side's pigs', and it would be done!"

"That would be the sensible thing to do, yes," Elsa agreed, a touch incredulously. "When I'm Queen of Arendelle, if I ever do something so absurd as that, do me a favor? Find me and smack me."

Jalian grinned. "I agree. But you would not. You are sensible."

"At least, I try to be," Elsa laughed, softly. "My parents put a lot of care into seeing that I was raised to be the best queen I could possibly be. I would hate to disappoint them."

"I know nothing about being a queen," Jalian admitted, "but I'm certain you will be a good one. You care for your people and you are sensible." Anything else could be learned or delegated.

"Sensible, but nervous," Elsa decided. "It's less than a year to my coronation day, now. I'll probably spend a large part of that time just counting down the days."

Nervous, terrified. Same difference.

"You could count them in base sixteen or base three," Jalian suggested, grinning. "Then you would be taking so long to do it, you would have less time to worry."

"I suppose having to add the letters of the alphabet in order to count would definitely make things more complicated," Elsa allowed. "You know, I might have to actually give it a try."

This could only end in tears.

Jalian laughed. "I'll help. And my new roommate is an engineer!" she noted. "There are many of us here who like math now."

Well, that was exciting!

"Are there? I might have to meet them," Elsa mused. "Imagine a group of us all getting together to discuss geometry and physics! We could all teach one another so many things."

They would be the prettiest, most kick-ass physics club ever!

...they'd make a killing at nationals. Hopefully not literally.

"Tali, my roommate, is..." Jalian looked for her, which wasn't difficult given the suit she wore. "There. And we should do that! So many different sorts of physics, it's sometimes hard to convert from one to another."

If the sight of Tali would have earned a second glance from Elsa before Fandom because what, before, at least this time around it was less because of the full-body armoring and more because, my, that fabric was pretty, wasn't it?

"It sometimes is," Elsa agreed, smiling a little. "Maybe that way, we'd be able to find some sort of constant between the different kinds."

"Meeting like-minded people, talking about things that make most people's heads spin... it sounds like a good time to me," Elsa decided. "We should definitely do this sometime."

"We should!" Jalian agreed. "We'll have a physics party."

Physics parties. Where aspiring mathematicians congregated to attempt to calculate how much force it would take to propel the confetti across the room.

"Well, now we have something to look forward to," Elsa decided. "Not a bad start, for my first day back to the island."
