Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could work on their tan while they ate, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool and non-crispy.

All of the tables had some blue and gold glitter scattered across them, because there was always enough to go around. This school certainly was blesesed in all the right ways.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Four blinked. "Um, the table, but there was a major chocolate fiend there, so it might be all gone."

Ringo sighed. "That's what I was afraid of." She glanced over at the table. "I didn't see any chocolate cake when I walked by."

Abnegation habits died hard, so he held out his plate. "Would you like some of mine? I had plenty of cake when I was home this summer."

"What?" Ringo blinked in surprise. "Are you sure? I mean, um, I could always get something else." Even though that cake did look delicious.

"Really, it's fine," Four said. "I don't need it and you look disappointed."

"Well," she did really want some cake. "Maybe we could split it?" she suggested hesitantly. She didn't want to be greedy or anything.

"Sounds like a good compromise," Four said. "I'm Four, by the way."

"Oh!" Ringo flushed in embarrassment. "My name is Ringo Noyamano." She clasped her hands together in front of herself and offered him a polite bow. "Please excuse my rudeness."

"It's a very busy day," Four said, nodding back. Dauntless shook hands, but Abnegation wasn't big into hand-to-hand contact, so he was still a little more comfortable with nodding. "I wasn't offended."

"I'm glad," Ringo admitted.

Then she grinned. "Okay, I'm going to go grab a plate and fork." She quirked an eyebrow curiously. "Want me to grab you anything from the tables while I'm at it?"

Four glanced over at the table. "Maybe a few strawberries?" he asked. "Fresh fruit is a pretty big treat, too."

"I like the way you think," Ringo declared with a laugh and a grin. "Then I'll be right back."

She dashed off, managing to weave through and around anyone between her and the tables with surprising agility. She took a couple of minutes to load up, and returned the same way, managing not to spill any of the huge pile of strawberries and cherries she'd heaped up.

"Tada!" she declared, presenting the plate of fruit with a flourish.

"Thank you," Four said, smiling. "Almost as pretty as the cake."

Ringo laughed again. Then she slid two more plates out from under the one with the fruit piled on it and held one out. "One for you, one for me," she declared. "And then we can split all the goodies."

"Excellent tactics," Four said. "So, who have you met so far?"

"Hmm, let's see." Ringo absently popped a cherry into her mouth and chewed on it thoughtfully. "I met my new 'little sister', Isabela. She seems pretty cool. And I met this guy Dante." Hmm... "And you!" she declared with a grin.

"Other than that, it's mostly been talking to other people I've met this summer."

"I feel almost like a new kid," Four said. "I missed the summer session, so now it's two crops of new people I don't know."

"Like me?" Ringo shrugged. "I'm sure it won't take you long to catch up. I mean, you've already met me." See?

She eyed the cake thoughtfully. "Hmm. This would be easier if I'd gotten a knife, I think."

"You can have the middle icing all the way down," Four said with a quick smile, "and I suppose I can figure everyone else out in classes, right?"

"Oh! Good solution." A quick nod, and Ringo was maneuvering her fork to try to carefully flip the top half of the cake over without it landing on the icing side.

She even mostly managed it, with the two pieces ending up mostly intact. "Whoops," she said, frowning at a smudge in the icing. "Sorry about that."

"Anyway! If you've got questions about new people, I might even be able to answer them if you pointed them out," she suggested. "Um, if you want. I mean, it's not like you can't meet them on your own."
