Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could work on their tan while they ate, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool and non-crispy.

All of the tables had some blue and gold glitter scattered across them, because there was always enough to go around. This school certainly was blesesed in all the right ways.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Yeah, he, um. He was my best friend. I lived with him and his aunt," Gwen said, with another shrug because she didn't know what else to do. "Aunt May and I took off to France and were going to stay, but we got kind of bored after a few weeks, and she decided it was too dangerous for me to stay where everyone dies violently, so I'm here."

"Oh god, I'm so sorry," Alana said, reaching an arm over to half-hug Gwen. "Are you doing okay?"

"Kind of," Gwen said. "I think being away from everything might help. It's just kind of... I just have to get through today and it'll be less weird, I think."

"Get back into the routine," Alana nodded sympathetically. "Or ... as routine as this place ever is, anyhow. Yeah. I see where that would help."

"Not great, but I'm dealing," Alana told her frankly. "And next to you I don't have anything to complain about."

She rubbed a hand through her hair. "Getting back to classes will probably be good for me, too."

"I bet. I mean, the whole situation sucks, all the way around," Gwen said. Breakups sucked, no matter what. "It'll get better."

"It kind of has to. And time heals all wounds, right?" Alana asked philosophically, glancing to Gwen again. "... do you want to talk about the guy who died? I'm listening, if that would help at all."

"Maybe not today. I'd rather not cry in public," Gwen said, and added appreciatively, "Seriously, thanks."
