Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could work on their tan while they ate, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool and non-crispy.

All of the tables had some blue and gold glitter scattered across them, because there was always enough to go around. This school certainly was blesesed in all the right ways.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You've seen my Tumblr," Kathy teased, cheerfully helping herself to his plate. Look, hers were empty and the tables were all the way over theeeeere. "You know I love laughing at white guys. It's practically a hobby."

"Now that's definitely the way to get me to take my shirt off," Anders told her, snarfing a chip of her own before he took on a sarcastic voice."'Get half-naked! It'll make Kathy laugh!'"

"I promise not to laugh anywhere you could see," Kathy said, trying very hard to keep a straight face. "And besides, maybe I've had a hard week! Maybe I need something to smile about. Are you really going to deny me some small bit of joy? Really?"

She was terribly disappointed in you, Anders. Terribly.

"Always," Anders nodded. "That's my duty as a mage, you know. Shooting lightning at fools and stealing joy from young girls everywhere."

"Glad to see you're taking your responsibilities to heart," Kathy said, pretending to pout at him. "Especially the killjoy bit."

Though she did slide a cookie from her plate to his, just to be sure he knew she was teasing.

Hush, yes she knew he knew. BUT STILL.

"I'm a very serious and dedicated man," Anders told her, accepting the cookie as fit tribute. "How have you been, anyhow? Fit in any crimefighting?"

"Always," Kathy said. "I'm planning to head home for a weekend or so and do some more. My parents pitched a fit when I didn't make it home over break, but I was able to plead standardized testing and classes which helped matters. I'm hoping they never find out about portals."

She grinned at him. "Does this serious and dedicated man I'm talking to wanna come out with me again sometime? Either for more picnics or actual crimefighting?"

"If you can get away from the testing, absolutely," Anders said, grinning back. "I think I'd rather fight crime, though if it turns into a picnic I wouldn'tcomplain."

"Most of that's over with until November," Kathy said, with relief. "Though--oh. I never had my crazy night of drinking to celebrate. I am terrible at being a teenager. Much better at superheroing."

At least, she hoped.

"And sure, absolutely. I bet you'll get way more respect lighting guys on fire once than I do after months of kicking ass, but I'm not bitter."

"She said bitterly," Anders noted, with a little laugh. "And I'm sure they admire your dedication even if what I do is flashier."

He nudged her with an elbow. "Also, if you want an escort for that night of drinking, I'm in."

"Are you going to be my sober escort or someone who drinks with me?" Kathy asked. "I don't want to be drunk all on my lonesome. I need someone to be rowdy and obnoxious with me. Social drinking!"

That was definitely a concern. A rowdy and obnoxious Kathy.

"Well, you did just tell me that your very important mage responsibilities included stealing the joy from young girls?" Kathy asked, wide-eyed. "I wasn't sure you'd be willing to take a night off from your responsibilities just because I was celebrating a night off from mine!"
