Outdoor Adventure Time, Part 2 - Tuesday, Second Period
[Class #5 - The Down Low Job]
Class met up at the Portalocity office again this week, and without much ado stepped through onto a path in front of an unassuming cave entrance.
"We've been doing a lot of water stuff lately to try to beat the heat," Eliot said, as he unpacked a crate full of varying sized tan jumpsuits and helmets with headlamps on them. "So this week we're going with something different. Temperatures underground are between 50-55 degrees fahrenheit all year round, no matter what it's doing outside. So it should be a nice break from all the baking we've been doing back in Fandom."
“Hope you took us seriously about the boots. And the leggings,” Parker added, looking delighted. She calmed down a little and said, “Helmets are non-optional this week. And if you have claustrophobia or nictophobia, we need to hear about it now. We’re not traumatizing anyone in this class.”
"Anyone who can't or won't go into the cave can hang out out here. This land is a nature preserve, with lots of hiking trails and trees and things. So you can still have some nice outdoor fun even if you're not going underground." Eliot hoped everyone would be up for going underground. If anyone didn't, he'd stay behind with them, but he was rather looking forward to going into the cave. "If you get in there and suddenly realize you're claustro- or nictophobic and you just didn't know it yet, let one of us know and we'll make sure you get back out."
“Take your cameras! You should be able to get some good photos. And follow the safety rules, this is not the place to take risks. There’s no buried treasure-- that we know of--” Hope sprang eternal. “But there are still snacks afterward.”
"So, without further ado," Eliot said, once everyone had a helmet and jumpsuit. "Whiting's Neck Cave."
