Grissom waits until his students have taken their seats, and then rolls in a TV unit. He starts up a video from this collection.

"This does involve your upcoming project. I just thought we'd start a little lower on the food chain."

Homework (over break) : Research and prepare a short presentation on the mating rituals of one species of animal besides human (or dominant alien lifeform, as the case may be) from the place you chose last class. However, you may work with your partner, if you'd like, and present just one together, as your time over Break allows.

Asia: Izzie and Alanna
America/Oh Canada: Cally and Anders
South America: Phoebe and Shep
Space: ~~Bel~~ ~~Cole~~ Bel and Allie
Europe: Pip and Paige
Africa: Sawyer and Han

[OOC: Three of you missed last class, so I assigned you groups. I know Han mun is AFK, and Phoebe in game would probably turn Sawyer into a toad, so she's with Shep. So Han (when you're back) and Sawyer, you get Africa. Sadly, there are no Vikings there. :(

You can play out working with your partner or not as time allows over Spring Break, and if you want to, or come up with something on your own next Tuesday. Either is fine!]

Anders signs in and gives Cally a bright smile. ~~And then his player goes AFK for a couple of hours.~~

"So... non-human thingy? Got any ideas?" Cally says.

Unfortunately, the first thing that comes to mind is . . .

"Ducks?" Anders asks.

"Oh, oh," Cally says. "I know. We can do turkeys. They're, like, native, I think."

"Turkeys?" Anders scratches his head. "Like the Thanksgiving dinner things?"

"Yeah," Cally nods. "I think, like, Ben Franklin wanted to make them the national bird, cause they were native. I think."

"Oh, well, there you go. They're native to the United States then. Still, we've got, like, Canada to pick from too, right? Maybe we could ask the security dude."

"The guy with the funny hat?" Cally asks.

Anders nods. "Yep, him. Canada's, like, all the way up north and stuff. Maybe they have different animals up there? More interesting ones?"

"Wouldn't hurt to check. Turkeys are kinda ugly," Cally says.

"They are, huh?" Anders nods. And again with the footsie-playing. "Yeah, if we gotta study their mating habits I kinda don't want to deal with anything ugly."

"It might be traumatizing," Cally nods back, as well as playing footsie back. "Don't want any trauma."

"Personally I can think of better mating habits to study than turkeys," Anders mumbles, grabbing Cally's hand and nibbling at her fingertips. "Definitely better than turkeys."

Cally glances around the classroom. "Erm, champ? Maybe after class?"

Anders blinks at her. "I didn't mean now."

Cally wiggles her fingers at Anders ~~as if she had Bridge's genetics, and was saying the word buttery~~. "I meant the nibbling, champ."

Anders pouts. "It's just your fingers, coach. Nothin' else right now. But anyway. Should we ask security-dude with the hat?"

"Yeah, we should," Cally says. "If he's no help, we can always resort to the turkeys."

"Does it have to be turkeys, though? There's gotta be fifty million kinds of animals here. It's like a huge continent," Anders points out, still nibbling on Cally's fingers. "Maybe we should go figure out what our options are first. Like, snakes, or squirrels, or something."

"Something," Cally says. "We can worry about it after we talk to the security guy, okay?"

Anders nods. "Okay, okay. Just as long as we have a good chance of avoiding the turkeys."

"Okay, we'll avoid the turkeys," Cally says. "We will be completely turkey free."
