If All Else Fails, Hit Something, Friday 2nd Period

Unlike the previous two weeks, Cara was holding her class outside today, having marked off a wide area of dirt covered ground just outside the salle. There were dummies set up on one side of the area, and several large circles of rope on the other. When they students got close enough, they might have noticed that the dirt wasn't so much dirt as mud. Cara apparently had something special planned today.

"You're not always going to have a nice padded floor to fight on," she told them. "Actually, you're more likely never going to have one, so today you get to work on your footing. Those who want to focus on that, punch a dummy, same way I showed you last week and which I expect you to have been practising. Those who want a challenge, find a partner and spar."

"Well, what are you waiting for?"

Getting his clothes dirty was almost an affront to Ronan's sensibility. He didn't necessarily mind it but he hadn't expected it. Gross.

He tromped over to the dummy to give it a few hits before seeing if anyone wanted to try him.
