"Based on your times last week," Brian said, "some of you seem to have gotten the impression that in this class we are learning about things like 'speed limits.' I would like to inform you that that is not the case. Obviously out in the real world you should obey all posted signs and blah blah blah whatever--" real ringing endorsement there, O'Conner, "--but this is not the real world, and I expect to see some competitive spirit, people." He looked at them sternly for a moment before moving on. "Your route for this week has been programmed into your car's GPS. If you think you see a shortcut, by all means, take it. You have to learn to use your own judgment when driving. You get one burst of NOS; use it wisely. Oh, and one more thing. This isn't the real world, but I think it's time we added in a real world variable." Brian pushed a button on his remote, and at either end of the block they were standing on in fake Miami, traffic started streaming by. "You crash, you start over. You know the drill. Drivers, to your cars."

Ronan was pretty damn determined to make up for last week. He slid into the car, gripped the wheel and hit the gas as soon as the green lit up. He shot forward, eyes on the road and any distractions.

When a car came out in front of him, he swerved down an nearby alley, gunned the engine and came out on a side street. That's when he hit the NOS and accelerated, zipping around cars and flying past the finish line.

He knew he'd finished first. Knew it.

Kathy was great at zipping down the road at insane speeds when it was just them in the sim. Add in other cars and everything changed. She also was incapable of ignoring posted signage, sorry. She yielded when she was supposed to, she let other people into her lane, she only took a left when the oncoming traffic was multiple car lengths away...

She puttered across the line still with a tank full of NOS almost dead last and rested her forehead against the wheel. Yeah, yeah, be a more aggressive driver.

With traffic to account for and no sensors to keep track of them, Face was somewhat less of a deadfoot on the accelerator today, though he was still going what most people would consider too fast.

Still he made it without incident.

Once you've found your way back to Brian, you're welcome to go again. Might be a good idea, to get used to other cars on the road.
