Relax and Recharge 2: Extreme Relaxation, Tuesday Period Two

"Good morning," Bond said as his students assembled in the Danger Shop. They stood on a long stretch of deserted highway that looped through a number of low hills. A sleek looking car was parked beside him. "I decided we should probably stay away from the water this week, and we've covered the sea and the air, it's only far we visit the land this week."

He ran a hand over the roof of the car. "This is an Aston Marin DBR9. The design is based on on of their high end models that's been modified for racing. Which means it's very expensive, very fast, and the sort of vehicle you're probably not supposed to let teenagers joyride in.

"I'll go first so you can get an appreciation of how it handles, then you can take turns trying the course."

And watch him drive the very expensive car very fast.

Bond has tweaked the simulation so that if you crash, the car will instead flip several times and somehow right itself. Because no crashing the pretty car.

Nathan was in no mood for class but he was there. He'd taken a driving class before so that meant it wasn't too hard but he still got turned around and spun out.

No crashing but it wasn't his best performance.

Kathy and Nathan weren't very close, but she did like him and being friends with Anders meant she was prone to worrying over both of them. So when Nathan came back from his drive, she was waiting for him.

"Hi," she said, more than a little shy. "Are you, umm, okay? I saw you spin out..."

"I'm fine," Nathan said shortly. He wasn't fine but he also wasn't a very outgoing person. He stuck his hands in his pockets and chewed on his lip. "I don't drive. I'm fine. The car's idiot proof."

"The car may be idiot-proof, but you still seem kinda troubled," Kathy ventured. He had seemed troubled before he'd gotten into the car, but she wasn't going to point that out quite yet. "I thought maybe you might wanna...talk?"

Nathan shook his head quickly. "No, that's okay. I'd rather not talk. Thank you but I'm fine. Just tired."

"I--sure," she said, backing off. "But, hey, if you ever want to? I'm here. I mean, I know we don't know one another well, but sometimes that can even be a good thing."

Nathan breathed roughly for a few seconds before nodding. "Sure. Thank you. Maybe later. Just not right now. I just need to be alone."

"Okay," Kathy said, backing off. "Just--you don't have to be alone. If you don't want to be. Just thought you should know."

Kathy loved fast. And was quickly developing an appreciation for pretty cars. So while she couldn't really do anything fancy in it, she could take the car screaming up and down the highway.

Ringo had never actually driven a car before.

Still, she thought she could probably manage to stay safe enough on a nice, straight, flat bit of road. So she jammed the accelerator to the floor, and took off.

She was surprised that, with the engine being so loud, she wasn't actually going all that fast. Someone should probably tell her how to shift gears.

Daphne perhaps had a bit too much fun driving the car.

Who's not at all sorry about stealing Brian's driving class thunder.
