Advanced Driver's Ed, Thursday, First Period

"My buddy Tej lives about five miles from here," Brian observed once his students had assembled for today's class. "So today you're gonna go to his place. The handwavey address is on a post-it note stuck to the steering wheel of your car. There's a map of Miami in the passenger seat. If you're not there by the end of class the simulation will end, no worries, and you can take as long as you need to study the map, but remember, this is a race, and your time starts now."

Ronan completely blew this race. Completely and utterly blew it. He didn't know what he'd hit but something had slowed him enough that he couldn't recover.

Sonofabitch.

Kathy spent a lot of time going over the map, making sure she could avoid the worst of the likely traffic spots. It definitely gave her an edge, being able to avoid left turns and taking backroads when the major streets seemed like they'd slow her down.

All that prep work paid off when she pulled in second, just behind Kira. "Yes!"

Kira was pretty good at reading maps, so it didn't take her long to figure out a good route to the address, but she was still surprised when she pulled in and no one else was there. She maaaay have gone over the speed limit in some spots, but hey, it was a race!

Jalian drove quickly and well. Or, well, really fast and without crashing.

Unfortunately she had no idea what the things on the map were or how to read it. How could any city have so many roads?
