Maia raised an eyebrow at her line about playing fair and sat quietly for a few minutes thinking of what she wanted to ask.

"Do you honestly think it fair for teachers to play such obvious favorites in a class that only contains a small number of students and then really expect the students who are treated like crap to actually want to participate?"

"Of course it isn't fair to play favorites, Maia. I'd like you to revisit that assumption, though. Challenging a student isn't necessarily indicative of a lack of favoritism. In fact...not teaching actively is kind of an insult, isn't it?"

Maia looked at her carefully and nodded "Yes it is." She said finally, she didn't have a smart ass answer for C.J. and in fact, as much as she hated to admit it, C.J. was right even though she did favor Shep over everyone else.
