Physical Education. Wednesday, Period Three

When students arrived today, there was a note on the Danger Shop door, along with some large spheres, one for each student, and a soccer ball.

Called away for Imperial business. Go outside, Miss Lightwood is in charge.

Ghanima was rather regretting that she wasn't going to get to see this today.

Oh yes, you are going to do this. Commiserate with your classmates as you tromp outside for fresh air.

"You know, if you want to have Humans performing a Mon Cal opera there are easier ways," Face said as he hoisted his bubble up.

"Opera?" Ringo asked curiously as she examined her own bubble.

"This does not remind me of any opera, anywhere," was Hanna's opinion.

"Mon Calamari are an amphibious species," Face explained. "If they're performing for air-breathing species, they do it in giant bubbles of water."

"Ohhh." Hanna paused and said, "I think I would very much like to see that, actually. They don't worry that the bubbles will break?"

Face shook his head. "The repulsor tech in those kind of venues is pretty reliable."

"Repulsor?... to push apart?" Hanna guessed, uncertain if this was a gap in her English or her knowledge of the world at work.

"Push against would be closer," Face told her. "They're pretty ubiquitous anti-gravity tech in my galaxy."

"Ohhh. So they are not something around here," Hanna checked, smiling slightly. "For, oh. Lifting things, I would guess?"

Face nodded. "Pretty much."

Hanna considered that and asked, "Do you miss it? Being somewhere with more technology?"

Kathy was looking entirely too gleeful as she grabbed her bubble and heading for the outside. This was a sport that combined two of her favorite activities, running and bouncing. HOW COULD SHE FAIL?!

Go wild, bounce around, Isabelle has final say in if a goal is reached.

Ringo wasn't actually all that good at any sport that didn't involve AirTrek, but it rapidly became apparent that it didn't matter. Running around and trying to jump in a way that let her bubble roll over the top of other peoples' quickly became way more fun than anything silly like trying to score.

Too bad for her there was someone prepared for that! (Well, okay, not really too bad, considering it was all pretty fun). Kathy waited until Ringo was about to roll onto to her bubble, then jumped up as high as she could, intending to send the other girl flying.

"Take that!" she crowed, trying to keep her laughter to a reasonable level that wouldn't interfere with her running.

Really, Ringo should have seen that coming, but somehow Kathy managed to completely blindside her. And since Kathy was trying for a collision while Ringo wasn't, well, one of them bounced hard enough to make it pretty much impossible to land on her feet. And it wasn't Kathy.

Of course, Ringo was laughing maniacally as she tucked her legs up under her, bounced on her back, and continued over in a flip to land, so it was probably okay.

"Oh, is that how it is?" she demanded with a maniacal grin as she charged straight at Kathy.

"That's entirely how it is!" Kathy called, throwing herself into a roll to escape Ringo's charge. "This is my version of the--oof!"

It was harder to flip in a giant bubble than Kathy had predicted. Awkward! She managed to dodge out of the way, but rather than ended back on her feet, she just kept bouncing, facedown.

Oh, and laughing. Definitely laughing.

It wasn't really part of Ringo's plan to charge right past Kathy. It also wasn't part of her plan to bounce off of someone who had been behind Kathy that she hadn't seen.

And just like that, Ringo was hurtling backward, trying to keep her feet under her as she found herself going backward toward Kathy again. This time completely unintentionally.

Also laughing, so it was easy to hear her coming.

Okay, as ridiculous as this was, it was also funny. ALthough she had to yell in Ringo's direction. "Kick it here!... or roll over, okay."

Well, Ringo could try. She got close to the ball and kicked it. She even pointed her foot vaguely in Hanna's direction.

That wasn't really the same thing as kicking it to the other girl, though.

Hanna ran after it, calling, "Yes!" And then over-balanced and fell over on top of it. "... nooo." Rolling off it, she tried to flail her way to her feet, but it didn't quite work.

Don't worry, Hanna! Ringo would come help you!

She was laughing as she charged forward toward her teammate. Except that those bubbles meant you ran into people way before you thought you would, and Ringo, well, bounced off of Hanna.

Which probably didn't help Hanna stand up at all.

Hanna had been knocked back down on her butt, and was now sitting on the ground, laughing. It was a bit harder getting vertical again with all that bubble-air around her too.

"Where did the ball go?"

"I see it!" Ringo declared, giggling. Then she playfully kicked at Hanna's bubble. "But it won't move!"

"No!" Hanna was rolling over and over now, flailing, but she also giggling. She got one knee under her, then the other, and managed to get back to her feet. And did a running tackle-almost at Ringo. Well. As much as she could.

Haha! Ringo spun out of the way!

Well she spun her body out of the way. That left a whole bunch of bubble for Hanna to slam into, and Ringo kind of went flying off at an angle away from her teammate.

As if team even mattered.

"Put your backs into it!"

Isabelle was going to be taking on the roles of both umpire as well as coach. Far too gleefully.

If she's not bouncing around!

First grand mal migraine in months, have not slept yet. Thank goodness I pre-wrote this ages ago & RNG'd teams in case of a sick day.
