Barry had skipped the welcome picnic over the weekend. There was too much science going on back at his warehouse to break away to eat and meet new people. He figured he'd run into most people eventually.

For once the etiquette books were not giving Barry any crap today. Which of course made Barry suspicious.

Maybe they were hatching some kind of plot.

"Now I'm just offended that you haven't upgraded my pockets already," Kathy declared, thinking of Yeul and her ninety-nine tents. "We've had Christmas and my birthday you know."

Super-science pockets would never go amiss, Barry! They were the gift that keeps on giving!

...Also, she wasn't going to point out that pockets with dimensional access sounded a lot like magic to her. But it did. Just (not) saying.

"But no, amazing pockets weren't what I was thinking about when I came by to bother you." Mostly because she hadn't thought about the possibility. "I was hoping I could convince you to run some tests. On, umm, me." She glanced away, fiddling with her hair a bit. "I wanna know why I'm like the way I am. Is it genetic? Hereditary? Sarah's gonna be fifteen in a little over a year. Should I be watching her to see if she starts bouncing around like I did?"

Barry pursed his lips in thought. "Well I can certainly do that," he said thinking this over. "We can do DNA testing, tissue testing, neural tissue testing... There's a lot of different ways to cover this."

Yes. He did just ask if he could take a brain tissue sample from you Kathy. Just in case you missed that.

"Yeah," Kathy said with a nod. "That's what I was thinking. "DNA tests, maybe a blood sample or something, get an idea of what--"

She stopped. Blinked at him. Reviewed what he'd just said.

"Did you really say you wanted some brain tissue?!"

What kind of zombie science was this, Barry? No!

"Yeeeeah," Barry said slowly as if that was the most obvious thing in the world. "You said you wanted me to find out how your powers worked."

"But you need brain tissue?" Kathy asked. Still sounding kinda horrified.

"How else am I going to see how you trigger your superball reflexes?" he asked. "You move at a speed and technically your brain can handle the reaction. You're not going to wuss out on me are you?"
