Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The last picnic for new arrivals had involved a bonfire, but there was no need for artificial warmth today. The weather outside was sunny, and just breezy enough that no one would roast, hopefully. There were tables and chairs arranged around the lawn, along with a long table of food, drinks, and desserts for anyone who stopped by.

There were stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Some of these kids do well having their brains tweaked every now and again," Obi-Wan said. "I taught ethics last semester. It was enlightening."

"I'll bet," Ben said with a tiny smile. "En--Andrew...it takes a lot to get him flustered, but he sometimes comes back and if he had a tail, he'd be lashing it."

"I take it mechanics is rather less... tail-lashing," Obi-Wan said. "For those gifted in the field, at least."

"Oh, there are a few geniuses that give me a run for my credits," Ben said, "but they aren't going to blow up anything important while I'm teaching."

He could think of one.

Ben's cheeks went pink. "Why do you think Dad named me after you?"

"I wasn't sure," Obi-Wan demurred. "I hope the name isn't too much trouble."

Whether that last sentiment was genuine or a joke was... well, it laid in the middle.

Ben smiled, sending a nudge of reassurance through the Force. "Not at all," he said. "You were a huge influence on my father. I'm honored to be named for you."
