"Right, so somehow next week is time for exams already," Josh said. "So today you have to provide me with your three best arguments about why we couldn't possibly have a test in this class."

He smirked. "I'm not sayin' it'll work, but I want to see you try. You there," he said, pointing to a student, "Skippy. You go first."

"Reason number one: I ran a class while you were gone," Kathy pointed out. "That's, like, exam trial-by-fire. Number two?" She raised her SAT prep book. "I am already swamped in study materials, including four AP exams. And number three is related to number two: if I have to add much more to what I'm already studying? I will probably go on some insane coffee binge, which could directly impede your ability to get a decent cup on the island."

"The first reason is that there is no academic exam you could set that would accurately measure our ability to learn the subject material, the only true test for that is life," Face said. "The second is that if you don't see the value of my first reason, then it's impossible for you grasp the subject well enough to have effectively taught it to us, making an exam moot, which clearly isn't the case, therefore you must agree with my first reason, meaning that my third and final reason is that because my first two are self-evident, there is no need for a third reason, therefore by completing the exercise in two-thirds the necessary arguments, I've proven that I personally do not need to take an exam next week."

Face delivered this speech with conviction.
