Zero tacked a little handmade sign she'd made to the library doors as she opened up:

Zero is here. You may have to look for her a bit.

Then she plonked herself down behind the desk with a cup of coffee.

Peter was glad to hear that because there are some thoughts that are much less pleasant when the person being thought about isn't alive.

"I have a friend whose sister can turn invisible. It's a bit more conscious on her part, but, you know, she's not undead or anything, so I'm willing to believe you on that point."

"But now I'm wondering if there's anyone else walking around with powers they don't know about..."

"Lucky your friend's sister. And, um, I'm glad you believe I'm alive." Later, she would be smacking herself over that one. Real smooth, Zero. "It's kind of weird, knowing I had a power and I didn't even know it."

Peter let a little chuckle out. "Hey, just be glad you got a cute power. Some of the others I've seen are anywhere from embarrassing to just plain disturbing."

Then Peter noticed what he said. "Cool, I meant. Cool power." Damn Freud and his slips.

"Um. Compared to detachable limbs, yes, invisibility is freaking adorable. After all, it doesn't involve body parts not being there or anything," Peter babbled. "Except visually. And it's the whole body."

Dammit. Peter winced as he realized that he had made a mistake. Might as well bite a bullet to fix it.

"Of course, if you're invisible I can't see you at all. That wouldn't be a good thing."

"It would be," Peter said. "Because I kind of like being able to actually see you. You make the library a much more pleasant place."

"You really do," Peter said, not actually looking Zero in the face. He thought this might lessen the blushing a little.

Zero? Also with the blushing. "I'd have thought the mallet circumvented that..."

"Well, I still haven't seen the mallet in action, so I only really have the bit about you to focus on. And I'm not complaining about that," Peter said.

"Um. Yeah." And then, because he had said more than enough to cause mild embarrassment and anxiety for one hour, he stood up and gathered his books. "I really have to get a little bit of studying in and I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen here. Um. I'll see you later, okay? Well, assuming I'm able to see you."
