Zero tacked a little handmade sign she'd made to the library doors as she opened up:

Zero is here. You may have to look for her a bit.

Then she plonked herself down behind the desk with a cup of coffee.

Anders has a Classics midterm tomorrow. Anders has a television in his room. Anders needs to study for his midterm. Therefore, Anders is here in the library, and not in his room.

When he walks into the library, he doesn't see Zero right away. And then he does, which causes him to jump and drop his books. "Whoa, um, hi, Zero," he says, scrambling to pick them up. "I swear I didn't see you there a second ago."

She sighed. "Hey, Daisy. Yeah, it's like a thing? I'm invisible if no one's looking at me."

"Only when nobody's looking at you? Weird. I don't know if that's more or less weird than animals sticking to Bridge, though." He frowned. "That's gotta be kind of a pain."

"It's goin' around. Janet had...stuff stickin' to her hands, and Rory's arms detach."

Anders thought he'd heard about the detachable limb thing, but it didn't stop him from turning slightly green. "Well, um. At least you sort of lucked out in the grossness department."

"Yeah. It's really creepy when she does it, but it doesn't seem t'bother her." She shrugged. "Parker thinks it's some kind of magic flu or something."

"Oh Lords." Anders looked mildly panicked. "D'you think it's contagious? 'cause I don't want to, like, suddenly be able to staple things with my nose or anything like that."

"It might be. We don't really know what's goin' on, where it came for an' whatever. We're tryin' to figure that out, so we can, y'know, turn it off. I mean, my power's pretty harmless, but everything tastes like chicken to Vala, and I think that'd drive me crazy."

Anders's eyes definitely bugged out a little at that, which didn't look so great with the lingering greenish tinge over Rory's detachable limbs. "That'd be enough to make me never eat chicken again, and I love chicken. And it's a good thing we don't have, y'know, an actual zoo around here, 'cause can you imagine giraffes sticking to Bridge? That'd be such a hassle."

"What if he went outside? He might get covered in bees!"

Anders twitched. "I hope he's not allergic. That would suck. Even though it would be kinda funny to see him running around yelling 'I'm covered in beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!' It would still suck."

Zero giggled. "But then we'd have to get the bees off him!"

"And that? Not so much fun," agreed Anders, who would totally have admitted to giggling too by this point. "Unless somebody else came down with a superpower that would help with that . . ."

"Ooh, like an insect-repelling power. Now that could be swerval."

"It'd be useful. Which, um, doesn't fit so well with what I've heard so far." Anders scratched his nose. "So I dunno how likely that is. Wow, does anybody have a power that's actually useful, or is it all just weird frakkin' stuff?"

"Far as I know, just weird frakkin' stuff." Zero shrugged. "Welcome to Fandom High, yeah?"

He shrugged back, a bemused smile on his face. "Some things don't change, I guess."
