The Library - Tuesday

With all the freaky shit going on with the island today, Barry decided it would be a good idea to make sure the library was open today for any researchers to do some researching.

He was even nice enough to have coffee brought in from the perk. Normal coffee. Nothing that may have been brewed with acorns or anything.

For his part Barry was behind the main desk doing his own research by remotely accessing his lab via his tablet but would be available for anyone if they had questions.

"I dunno," Kenzi said, for once not exaggerating. "I just feel so funky." She stared at the ceiling, then at her hand. "I'm not disappearing, right? I kinda wanna pass out. Or .. no, mostly pass out."

"You are not disappearing," Bo agreed, "and you're not passing out, either. At least not before I get you someplace with a bed and meds and somebody better qualified to pronounce you okay than Doctor Bo, G.E.D."

For certain values of GED that didn't include her real name on the paperwork or actually having taken the test.

"You're not taking me to the vampire chick, are you? 'Cause I'm really not sure about that one." Kenzi tried to get up, and managed to at least work her way up to sitting. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

"...Yeah, no." Bo shook her head and offered an arm. Or a shoulder. Or hell, if need be she could just carry Kenzi there. It wouldn't be the first time. "That one... let's just say she's damn good for what ails me, but with her clothes on I'm not sure I'd even trust her to put on band-aids and hand out lollipops."

Kenzi giggled, then managed to scoot off the table. She thought she could walk. If she got breaks. And they took a rickshaw. She leaned heavily on Bo's shoulder.

"...sorry I've been crazy."

"Yeah, well, sorry I've been a gray-skinned nightmare with claws, a soul-sucking belly dancer, a stewardess in nicotine withdrawal, some weird Australian mole-rat and a kid from Indiana." She'd probably missed a few, even. "You were about due for a turn."

"Heh. True." Kenzi felt a little bit better there as she slumped against Bo. Best comforting person ever. "I forgot about the mole-rat. That was hilarious... think I owe Roland free beer for a year for stealing from him, though."

"Sounds like everybody's getting eobbed." Bo frowned. "Magic harp makes sense, magic jewel makes sense, but all rumors to the contrary, my underwear? Not magic. Or much with the resale value if you're not in Japan. Why would he send somebody to steal those?"

"Fuck if I know," Kenzi said, stumbling along. "Giggles? Or maybe the crazy house burglar was just going nuts from whatever cursed thing she's got." She grumbled under her breath, then checked, "She didn't grab anything other than your underwear, right? While singing that weird song about chocolate shakes?"

"Not that I saw." Admittedly Bo'd been a little distracted by he floating cat. And thong. "That was a McDonald's commercial, by the way. Before your---oh holy carp." And other, even stupider fish, like for instance the Large-Mouth Bo. "She was in my jewelry box."

"Where you keep your... belly dancer jewelry for next time?" Kenzi's brain was pretty wiped, so. "Or your next date?"

"Where I keep my fancy magic amulet with the dirty-sounding name that makes the person wearing it immune to my powers." Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap.

"Shitballs." Kenzi knocked her forehead against Bo's shoulder, remembering how she'd thought about trading that in, and realizing someone else had the same idea. Or Gaunt gave them the idea. "Shit, shit, shit." Totally on the same wavelength there. "The Kou-shang. That fucker. Can we napalm Gaunt? Pretty please?"

"I might have to, if he's stocked up on other people's magical crap and using that thing for himself."

Maaaan, Kenzi hadn't even thought of that part of it. "Shit," she repeated helplessly. "I feel like such a moron. Why couldn't I have given up the damn ring weeks ago?"

Probably because it had still been new and fun then, and she wasn't lonely enough yet.

"I swear I'm gonna kick that cat burglar's ass if I run into her. After Gaunt's handled. Somehow."

"I'm gonna say 'because Magic'" Bo pointed out. "You're not a moron." Maybe just, you know. A leeeeeetle bit greedy? Cough.

A liiiiittle bit? Like Bo kiiiiinda liked sex? Snort.

Kenzi grumbled. All those things that Bo had brought up that she'd turned into and done hadn't had an element of choice to them. She still felt like a screw-up.

Enh. Gaunt was going to get her boot in his face.... As soon as she felt better.

She hugged Bo and sighed. "Promise you'll kick this guy's ass, if I don't feel okay enough to do it before he's gone."

"If he has an ass to kick, yea verily, I will kicketh it," Bo promised. "Or at least stand in line until they stop selling tickets."
