Today as Face stacked the shelves, he couldn't shake a niggling at the back of his mind about something being off. He knew it was probably just some kind of subconscious feedback loop with apparently half the island acting weird and screwing up their body language. But maybe it was more. Maybe...

"Did Barry do something to the coffee pot?" It was as good an explanation as any.

Face had broken into his emergency stash of instant caf, and was making faces at it. It was vile stuff, especially with 'non-dairy creamer' instead of bantha milk.

John poked his head out of his office. "Heard that!" he said, "--actually, that makes sense. Add it to the list of shit that Ween isn't allowed to fuck around with."

Really, Barry was lucky the list was still as short as it was.

"Doing it now." Face picked up a marker and went to write 'No experimenting with the coffee pot.' on the list.

He underlined it for good measure.

Hey now! He wasn't doing anything creepy with the hat! If anything was creepy, it was how many times he pulled up Zee's number in his phone, and then backed out and didn't call. That was most likely against the ex-boyfriend rules.

There were one or two (or three) glances at the hat, sure, but they were all to reassure himself that it was real, it was the real thing, and he wasn't just gonna be getting her hopes up once he called her. Really.
