Elsa was feeling pretty excellent as she made her way to the library (for what felt like the first time in months, though it couldn't possibly have been so long!) for her shift today. She was very much enjoying her new jewelry and the peace of mind that it gave her, while opening up entire worlds of possibilities for her powers. She fondly remembered playing with Anna when they were children, now, and couldn't help but consider all of the possibilities that were open to them once again.

Maybe she'd ask her sister if she wanted to build a snowman, later. Spring seemed to be taking its time around here this year, so a little bit more snow couldn't hurt, right?

The library was open, and Elsa was looking through books about winter games, planning to make up for a lot of lost time.

"I try to avoid the water," Elsa reminded him primly, "and Canute and I don't go into the preserve when we go for our walks. Has it really been that bad?"

How bad could it possibly be?

"Pretty fucking bad," Barry replied, "and I can't find a single fucking reason why it's dying off. And you know how much infucking hate it when I don't know something."

He flopped in a chair and sighed.

"As much as I love working on this island it frustrates the fucking hell out of me when it does this shit."

"Oh trust me," Elsa replied, stepping up behind him to rub at his shoulders with her bare hands, "I know."

They'd had a pretty crappy spring break in part because of exactly that, after all.

"Maybe it was just a hard winter...?"

That wasn't how spring worked, Elsa.

"Last winter was worst than this year," Barry said leaning back into the shoulder rub. "And-"

He paused a moment when he realized that Elsa wasn't wearing her gloves.

He leaned his head back further to look up at Elsa. "No gloves?"

Elsa bit her lip as she pulled her hands back, unconsciously wrapping one hand around her bracelet protectively. It was almost a strange parody of her usual reaction to being caught without gloves, to pull her hands away from anybody she might unconsciously hurt.

This time, her only thought was to keep her bracelet safe.

"Today felt like a 'no gloves' sort of day," she said, a bit on the defensive side. "Those can happen, you know."

For anybody who wasn't Elsa, generally.

Now that was more of the Elsa that Barry knew. Except the defensive part. His eyebrows went up a bit and a bewildered expression went across his face.

"Okay," he said with a calming tone. "I just didn't expect to see you without gloves. It's good to see you feeling more confident. There's no need to pull away or be defensive with me."

Elsa gave Barry a wary look for a few seconds more before nodding and stepping back up behind him, just resting her hands tentatively on his shoulders again.

"If you're sure it's okay..."

And even if he wasn't, really. Elsa had no intention of taking the bracelet off just to pull those damn gloves back on again and go back to living as just barely half of what she was meant to be.

"Yeah, I mean..." He turned around to give Elsa a look of concern. "Are you feeling okay?"

"I'm fine," Elsa insisted, forcing a smile. "Of course I'm fine. I'm better than fine, I'm great. Why are you so worried, Barry?"

You know, besides how she was acting weird, and all.

Barry almost said because she was acting really fucking weird but knew that was a path which would lead to a shitty conversation. So he went a different route.

"Okay." He said with a nod. "Good to hear. So... What exactly is going on that makes it so great?"

"Oh, you know..." Elsa didn't give a little spin in place because she was a princess, dammit, but it was tempting. "I'm just feeling a bit more confident today than I have in the past. I've been thinking about perhaps gathering people up for a snowball fight. Do you suppose people would be interested?"

It didn't matter if there was snow on the ground. It didn't matter at all.

"Well it's nice to see you feeling confident," Barry said cautiously. "And are you talking about using your powers to have a snowball fight? Have you been practicing?"

"A little," Elsa agreed, and then held one hand out in front of Barry's face. "Look, it's easy!"

One perfect snowball coalesced into existence in her waiting hand, flakes of snow appearing from thin air and spiraling around one another in order to shape it.

"I had no idea it was this easy!"

"Well that's pretty good for something you've been pretty much avoiding your whole fucking life," Barry said raising an eyebrow. "Hey, what's that on your wrist?"

"It's..." Elsa frowned a little, letting the snowball dissipate into thin air again as she pulled her hand away. "It's nothing. It's just a trinket."

She frowned a little.

"I... had hoped that maybe you'd be a little happier for me."

"No! I'm totally happy for you!" Barry said quickly though maybe a tad too quickly. "I just think that it's a pretty quick turnaround for you. Your ability to freeze things is powerful. I just want to make sure you are okay with this. You've spent years being afraid of using it. I'm not sure what was the turning point for you."

Elsa was so giving Barry the side-eye scrunchyface, now. Yep. She wasn't trusting how quickly Barry spat that out at all.

"I've been here for over a year, almost a year and a half," she pointed out, "surrounded by people. And I haven't hurt anybody in my time here. Maybe I thought it was just time to stop being afraid."

Barry let out a long sigh. "Okay. Okay. I'm sorry," he said apologetically. "I'm glad to see you're overcoming your fears after so much time. I'm just surprised to see it happen so fast. You can understand that right?"

"Well, I did spend most of break week without gloves on at all," Elsa replied, because... she was feeling argumentative, for some reason, and grabbing at anything that had nothing at all to do with the bracelet that she was wearing seemed like the proper approach. "And Celia's been teaching me control."

Which also had nothing to do with her confidence right now, for the record.

"You did," Barry replied with a nod. "And I didn't know about Celia, but that's good too. I'm glad. Though I will say that maybe you want to wait on the snowball fight when it's closer to summer and people aren't so sick of winter."

Yes. That would be Barry trying to force some humor into the sitaution.

Elsa was silent for another moment, pausing to process that statement as humor before deciding that the proper reaction was more humor in turn.

"You mean to say that people didn't enjoy that blizzard a few weeks back? I thought it was lovely, personally."
