"Oh, that makes more sense." Which was true enough, though there was something he couldn't put his finger on. "Then you fought them off with your bare hands."
It was almost like something out of a story. Only weirder.
"At first," Cassandra allowed. "I had brought my sword, as is my custom, but they ambushed me." Which was true! "Thankfully, the island's deer are susceptible to fisticuffs."
"Not really." Yet. Cassandra would probably get along really well with Shalla if Face was ever in a position to introduce them. "And even soldiers where I come from aren't really in the position of using swords."
"I have seen various forms of projectile weapons since I came here," Cassandra said. She tilted her head. "I assume that is what you're talking about?"
Face returned shortly with the supplies. "I'd wonder why we had metal polish in a library," he said. "But I'm pretty sure the answer would be even stranger than I'd thought."
Cassandra had found a chair, which was rather less of an unlikely object to find in the library. She was sitting on it at present. "Perhaps there has been a need to defend this library before," she opined. "I was told by a teacher this school was once host to armed reserves."
"It is practical," Cassandra said. She took the bundle and began scrubbing the worst of the blood off immediately. "This island appears to be threatened quite frequently."
"Which is why we have the troopers and a lot of kind of scary teachers, mixing in a bunch of half-trained kids probably won't do much good and possibly a lot of harm," Face pointed out. "And no matter how impressive some individuals may be, that's what the majority of us are."
Cassandra shot him an amused look. "I am not the one suggesting we resuscitate this institution," she said. "The teacher suggested it. But as I have little intention of staying, I have seen no reason to pick up the gauntlet."
... That, and it hadn't seemed too necessary during her time here. Those were her only reasons.
Re: Talk to Face
A walk for the express purpose of hunting deer so she might give their hides to the merchant.
"That is when the deer attacked."

Re: Talk to Face
Yes, she'd punched a teal deer in the face.
Re: Talk to Face
That was kind of awesome.
Re: Talk to Face
Pfft. It wasn't even a bear.

Re: Talk to Face
To... put it mildly. Luckily she was well on her way to having the physique of a well-armored battering ram?

Cassandra looked down at the book.
Then she looked down at her armor.
"...You would not happen to have a rag of some kind, would you?"
How had she not realized how this looked? She had been too focused on the mission.
Re: Talk to Face
"We've got cleaning supplies," Face said, standing to fetch them. "Possibly there's something for leather and metal in there."

And he could think pretty strange at times.
