"Afternoon, folks," Josh said, grinning. "I heard you had a totally groovy time over vacation, which makes my decision to stay in DC and turn into a Joshsicle much smarter. One of the keys to successfully BSing your way through life is the ability to react quickly and ad-lib in a situation without coming across like an idiot."

He sighed and pressed play on the DVD set-up in front of the class. "It's not as easy as you think," he said, "which I learned to my sorrow here, in front of a room of reporters with cameras."

They all watched Josh implode as he watched and shook his head ruefully. "So yeah, idiocy happens to the best of us," he said. "Today, you have to give a quick speech and use the words 'groovy', 'Jello', 'disco' and 'macrame' without sounding like a jackass." He grinned. "Good luck. Don't come up with any secret plans to fight inflation, okay?"

Travis actually went for a speech on the benefits of exercise and how it might help the health and well being of the nation's people. He actually found it easy to use every single word except macrame so he just threw that in there at the end like it was some awesome verb.

Oh well.

"Hi there," Kathy said, bouncing up and giving a gigawatt smile. "How's everyone doing today? Feeling good, feeling relaxed, feeling a little groovy?" She didn't give anyone time to answer because she was continuing on. "I hope so, because we've got a lot of ground to cover today. As we know, the Affordable Care Act is under attack once again, this time up before the Supreme Court in what is nothing more than a cheap punch aimed at women and minorities in this country."

She went on for awhile, outlining the reasons that the ACA was a good thing, why healthcare was a right of every citizen. 'Macrame' got used in an example of a ridiculous injury that could still cause someone thousands of dollars if they were uninsured. ("Macrame! Do you really want to doom someone to the financial burden of debt because of an arts and crafts mishap?") and Jello was a joke about hospital food. ("Look, no one wants to spend more time in the hospital. There's an upper limit to how much jello any single person can ingest in a given timeframe...")

She finished with another killer smile. "I'm afraid that's all the time I have for today, but thank you for your attention and support!"

Face...came up with a secret plan to fight inflation.

A completely reasonable sounding secret plan that just so happened to involve macramé, Jello, and disco. One might even say it was a groovy plan.

Raven's speech was about how far America had come since the seventies, and how no one wanted to end up backsliding to the era of "groovy disco, macrame, and jello everything." Which she thought was maybe cheating a little, but also maybe cheating a little was all part of being good at BS.

Kathy had missed the cruise, so she was declaring herself lacking in 'grooviness.' And didn't seem at all upset to be doing so, nope!

Though this icon is called 'Sixties Diva' for a reason...
