Powers, Identity, and The World; Embracing the Real You - Friday, Period One
Students today would be pleased to see a roaring bonfire in the middle of the classroom. There was also a moddable pile of blankets, mittens and scarves sitting just inside the door. Best of all were the rows of steaming mugs full of hot chocolate, with marshmallows bobbing to the surface.
The power might be out, but nobody was freezing to death on Rinoa and Jono’s watch.
//This week, we're well aware of the weather, and… so help me, I haven't got the attention span to throw together a lecture today,// Jono noted from where he was sitting, a respectable distance from the fire, arms crossed in front of him as usual, //so we're going to do something a little different than usual. With no focus comes a completely open floor.//
He could manage a guess as to just why that focus was shot, really. He couldn't breathe in the pollen himself, but he was a telepath, and Fandomites weren't exactly quiet about their frustrations. These were things he was never mentioning in class, ever, while he struggled to keep up very firmly solid walls between himself and everyone else's ambient... feelings.
It had been very difficult for Rinoa to leave Squall this morning and come to class. At least he’d still be there in an hour, when she went back to bed. She had also figured out what was going on, and didn’t intend to surface for the next day or so. Sue her.
“Ask us anything,” Rinoa said. “I don’t just mean about your powers; I mean anything. It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Is there someone special in your life? Someone you have an eye on, but you’re too shy to make a move? Don’t feel like you have to share if you don’t want to, but love and dating and all of that are complicated at your age, even for people that are non-powered.”
//Hell,// Jono added, //they don't have to be questions about love, either. Ask us for recipes. Ask us about our pets. Don't ask anything at all. Tell us about that time you stubbed your toe in the third grade and you got a cookie when you cried even though it didn't hurt all that much. The floor is completely open. What have you got?//
Jono was going to pray that what they had was not a whole slough of sex questions. He wasn't going to hold his breath, though. Not that it would be difficult to accomplish.
“Get some hot chocolate,” Rinoa said, waving to the mugs. “Wrap yourself in blankets, and stay by the fire. Speak up. We’re listening.”

Lecture!
A little bit of crankiness will be excused today.
Re: Lecture!
This week was fired. By royal decree.
Re: Lecture!
She didn't look particularly bothered by it as she grabbed a blanket, some hot chocolate, and sat down not super close to the fire, but not super far either.
Getting the baby to calm down took her longer, and it wouldn't last the whole lesson, but she managed it after a few minutes. She was actually pretty good with children--even droid ones.
Re: Lecture!
Raven was not wrapped up in a blanket or hanging out by the fire. Not even so much because she didn't mind the cold (though she greatly appreciated being indoors out of the driving snow), but because she was sort of desperately hoping the cold would help calm her the fuck down.
She knew she should have stayed home, today. Except then she likely would have just started hitting on Amy.
Stupid hot people school.
Re: Lecture!
To the void with all of it. He needed Nathan, or at least an hour alone in his room without a cat or a chameleon staring at him.
Re: Lecture!
Everyone here was beautiful. Everyone at this school was absurdly beautiful, and her skin was -- tight, or something, and she couldn't begin to concentrate on anything. Her mind was too firmly on how she might try her very best to keep warm, later.
Rinoa would understand if she didn't make it in to work today, after all. She obviously knew how cold it was. And if she instead made use of her afternoon with Ichabod -- well, that'd temper things a bit, she imagined.
And if either of their stupid babies screamed through it, she'd take the damn things apart.
Re: Lecture!
Re: Lecture!
So she was trying not to focus on that and buried her face further into the blankets that she had wrapped around herself, hoping that no one would notice.
Open Discussion!
Ask... more questions?
Jono's just really hoping they're not questions about sex, honestly.

Re: Open Discussion!
... Jono was bad at this.
//You're meant to show appreciation to the people you care about.//
Better.

Talk to the TA!
Re: Talk to the TA!
It seemed a rather bad time to break the window, after all.
Talk to the Teachers!
Re: Talk to the Teachers!
Bless every telepath who ever taught him how to shield out ambient thoughts, because that particular level of control was absolutely saving his sorry arse today.
Re: Talk to the Teachers!
It's one of those days, is it?
Re: Talk to the Teachers!
Jono was so not going to hold back from texting right now. The students could chat amongst themselves for a few seconds at a time.
