Sex Cultures

Grissom welcomes each member of the class as they enter. There are six sets of two desks set up in the Lab, and each has a piece of paper with one word written on it in the middle.

"What I'd like you to do is take a seat at a set of desks. You may choose a free set of desks, or sit down with someone else. They will then be your partner for the next class project."

"I want you to spend the class discussing what you know about the place mentioned on your desks with your new partner, and getting to know them if you haven't worked with them before. This project will count as your midterm as I am not giving you a 'sex exam', yo., and I will give you the details on Thursday."

[If you have decided OOC on a partner you want for whatever reason, and that person has agreed OOC, just put a wee note on your "sit down comment" to avoid confusion. So if Cally wants to work with Anders, she'd sit down and say OOC: OMG RESERVED FOR MY DARLING ANDERS or something. :) This project will last for a while, but it won't require anything other than in-class torture interaction, FYI.]

Cally sits down.

[OOC: OMG RESERVED FOR MY DARLING ANDERS]

Anders sits down and promptly rearranges the desks so he's sitting next to Cally.

"Good call, coach. Not like we know any more about this place than any of the others, right?"

[OOC: OMG YOU KNOW YOU'RE ALL SHOCKED. EXCEPT NOT.]

Cally points over at the table with Bel and Allie. "Maybe the space one. Maybe. But yeah, this one's just as foreign as the rest."

Anders props his chin up on his hands and starts playing footsie with Cally under the desks. "Okay, you're the one taking US History. What do we know about this place other than that we're here, and apparently most of it isn't as weird as this town, and that the paper has weird corners?"

He thinks about that one for a second. "Or is it this whole planet that has corners on paper?"

"I think the whole planet has corners on their paper," Cally says, playing footsie back. "Erm, I only got up to, like, 1812 in history so far, which was apparently two-hundred-ish years ago. So, erm, nothing really recent knowledgey type stuff."

"That's, like, more than I know," Anders says, absently doodling A+C all over the piece of paper that was their assignment. But his eyes widen and he bounces a little in his seat, suddenly animated. "Oh! Except that the US invented baseball and football, and Canada invented hockey. Yeah."

"Okay," Cally says. "Well, there was the thirteen original colonies, and Thomas Jefferson, and, oh, there were these guys Lewis and Clark, they were important too."

"Lewis and Clark?" asks Anders, still doodling, but now there's little stick figures on the paper, one with a wrench and the other one with a ball, to go with the initials all over the place. "What did they do?"

He chews on his pencil eraser and goes back to playing footsie with Cally while he thinks some more. "Oh yeah, and there's a whole thing with, um, the commercials at the Super Bowl. Yeah. That's, like, a big cultural event that everybody talks about the next day."

"So, kinda like the big Pyramid tournaments and stuff?" Cally says, really only attempting to look like she's on task while she plays footsie with Anders.

"Yeah, pretty much, only they have this silly idea here that they're, like, the only ones who do something like that." Anders nods, and totally throws a little knee-squeezing into the mix.

Still with the doodling, too, only now he's pushed the paper over where Cally can see it, and the stick figures might be starting to look slightly naughty.

Cally tilts her head, trying to figure out what exactly is going on with the wrench in a particular doodle.

Anders totally pretends to not be looking. "So, uh, about those Lewis and Clark guys? What did they do?"

"They, erm, did some exploring stuff. Big exploration. Uncharted territories and stuff." Her hand may totally be doing some exploring of her own, as it appears to have reached Anders' knee.

"Uncharted territories, huh?" Anders's hand is definitely not exploring uncharted territory as it slowly slides up just above Cally's knee. "Bet they didn't discover anything as amazing as you."

Re: Group #4

[identity profile] sogothcally.livejournal.com 2006-03-01 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"They discovered, like... the west, or something," Cally says. "And somebody died, maybe? My memory is kinda hazy, here." Cally's hand isn't sliding up from Anders' knee, nope, not at all.

"Then I definitely made a better discovery," Anders decides, just before he completely abandons any sense of discretion and leans over to kiss her.

"Um, Cally?" he asks after he pulls back. "What does any of this have to do with sex cultures anyway?"

"I have no frakking clue," Cally says. "And I'm the TA."
