The Art of BS [Thursday, January 29, 2015]
"Right, so we have about two weeks until Valentine's Day," Josh said, "which means it's time to find a date for that dance. And BSing--used in small quantities because open and honest communication yadda yadda relationships blah--certainly helps to grease the wheels a bit at the beginning of things."
He gestured to the supplies he'd gathered. "So today I want you to make yourself a Valentine's Day card to give to someone else with words that are flattering but not so over the top that they won't think it's sincere--and then you need to present your proposal for why you'd be a great prospect as a date to the dance. And then you can eat the conversation hearts. Because conversation hearts."
He clapped his hands together. "Okay. Go."

Make a valentine!
So. Much. Glitter.
Make it pretty, and write something nice inside!
Re: Make a valentine!
So, there was copious amounts of glitter being dumped on the heart now.
Re: Make a valentine!
Inside, she crumpled up two strips of red paper and put them on little folded paper springs and wrote ...so don't go bacon my heart, okay?
Because if Valentine's Day wasn't a time for puns, when was?
Re: Make a valentine!
Nice, simple, sincere, flame theme. The card was a lot like Johnny himself.

Hers was definitely lacking. And misspelled. And said, 'You're a nice person.'
Hey, she tried.
Deliver your sales pitch!

Re: Deliver your sales pitch!
"Ummm..." Kathy was going to shift about awkwardly for a few seconds, did that count towards the sales pitch? "Umm, well, I'm single, so you won't have to worry about making anyone angry if we went on a date?"
Yeah, off to a great start here.
"I think K-pop is awesome, so I'm probably not going to make fun of your music taste, no matter how bad it is...puns are one of the highest forms of humor and my idea of a great evening is watching terrible Syfy movies, like Mecha-Octoshark Against Bearzilla, so if you think any of those things are cool, too, we'll probably have a good time?"
Stop making every statement sound like a question, maybe?
"I'm really easygoing and I like trying new things, so no matter what we ended up doing, we'd probably have a good time. Okaythankyouforlistening."
And then Kathy was sitting down in a rush.

She considered what to say for a few moments, then simply offered, "I will make you cookies, if you're my date."
She was also pretty good at making cookies, in addition to drawing.
Re: Deliver your sales pitch!
Perhaps she'd confused BS with honesty?
Talk to Josh or Kathy

She was so bad at this.
