Friendship is Cakes!! - 3rd Period, Wednesday

Pinkie was having a staring contest with a cake.

Yup. This would bode well.

Didn't it just? It didn't help that the other teacher was a giant wolf, sitting patiently next to her. And also staring at the cake. In case that cake threatened the safety of the students. It was evil, he could just feel it. It was going to be worse than the eel... things.

That was possibly why Pinkie was having a staring contest with it. "Today we're making animal themed cakes. See if you can make the frosting look like the cake is fuzzy or scaly or anything in between!" She pointed to the cake. "Expressions can be hard, so don't get too sad if your cake ends up a little scary."

Or a lot scary. That was a lot scary.

Which was why Derek was now starting to edge close to the cake to kill it before it killed them all. Look, he'd been on this island long enough to know what would happen if he didn't take one for the team and get frosting all over his fur.

He was doing this for you, kids. For you.

Pinkie backed up to give him room. She knew better than to get between a wolf and its prey, yo. "Get goin', kids!" she called, still staring down that cake. "And have fuuuuuuuuuun!"

Hope you already knew one of your teachers was a wolf, guys

That... was a very large wolf. For once, Hanna wasn't paying attention to Pinkie, but staring at the wolf. Ready to leap at it.

Except it seemed to be after the cake, so. Maybe it was a good wolf?

Try not to accidentally summon an evil spirit with your designs!

Well. Try not to summon more of them. Eel cakes would probably be a bad idea.

When Amy wasn't staring at the wolf or the creepy cake, she was working on a cake that looked like the titular fish from ~~meta~~ Finding Nemo.

What, she liked the movie. And who else was going to use the orange frosting?

Kira decided to try to make a fox cake, but it was a little more red than it probably should have been, and it looked a lot scarier than she'd intended. At least it possibly still tasted good?

"I don't think I'm doing this right," Hanna muttered to Kira. She'd thought making a fish cake would be easy. It mostly looked like an orange pancake. (https://kbcreations1.wordpress.com/2013/04/11/fishy-fishy-birthday-cake-and-cookies/)

"Well, you've got something round to start with, so that's good. Maybe add to it?" she said. "What are you trying to make?"

"A fish. I thought it would be easiest. Because it's flat," Hanna explained, looking a little woeful. "But this isn't very fish-like." It did have fins! ... sort of. Maybe it was the color that was throwing her off?

"It's a very bright fish. Like a goldfish!" Kira said helpfully. "I'm hoping taste counts for something. Some of the best tasting things are the grossest to look at."

Hanna considered that. "Elk sausage is delicious," she admitted. "But only appealing after it's in little cakes..." She gave hers a look, and poked at it, smoothing down a scale. "A goldfish. They're pets, aren't they?"

"Yeah. There are a lot of different types of fish that are pets," Kira said. After a moment, she added, "Have you ever had a pet?"

Hanna gave a minute shake of her head. "No. I wanted a dog." And to name her Trudi. "A cat would be nice, maybe... but." She nibbled a little, and shook her head again.

"Did you know there's a pet store in town? If your roommate doesn't mind a cat then you're allowed to get one." Kira was the worst enabler, sorry Hanna. "I've always wanted something little, like a hamster. Something I can cuddle a lot."

"Dogs could help with hunting, or fishing, too," Hanna pointed out, but that was just the kind of argument she'd tried on her father. Really, she wanted something to cuddle too. "A hamster? I have never seen one... are they very small?"

Carmilla, there was going to be a discussion soon, yes.

"Yeah, about the size of your hand," Kira said, holding her hand out to show Hanna what she meant. "They're little and furry and you keep them in a cage most of the time but they can also run around and they make little squeaky noises and are just kind of adorable."

Hanna was not socialized to aww! But her expression got noticeably softer, and more wistful. "Perhaps Carmilla would not object to something small," she mused aloud. "And. I could learn how to take care of it... does your roommate agree with you, about pets?"

"Honestly, I haven't asked her. But I totally should," Kira said. "There's lots of information on the internet about how to take care of pets. It's a great time we live in."

"It is," Hanna admitted. "Encyclopedias are not complete enough. And they are never updated as often. Or include ... oh, silly things."

"If there's one thing the internet has, it's silly things. Also gross things," Kira said. "But the silly and the cute things are way more fun to look at."

Offer to brush icing out of their fur/hides.

Don't make this weird.

Hanna was giving the wolf the side-eye. "Is he...?"

Yeah, that question could be for either teacher. She'd read fairy-tales, wolf. She knew how to deal with you. If you needed dealing with. It would be much weirder for her if you didn't.

Derek huffed in annoyance, managing to look dramatic as he rolled his eyes even as a wolf.

He could hear you perfectly fine.

"That is not a normal wolf." Nope. Not even a little. Wait. "Are you a wolf like Miss Pie is a pony? ... you're only going to eat the cake, yes?"

Well, he preferred bacon. But he made due with what he could.

Derek sat down as prim as a cat as he stared back at her. Wolf vocal cords not so great for talking, after all.

And no one needed Casual Nudist Derek Hale when he turned back into a human.

Hanna got a very shifty look. Literally shifty, as she looked in all directions without turning her head.

Then she nudged the cake closer to him. Holding it out to him would be very stupid, he might think she was offering her hand to eat or violence, but... "You would be doing us a favor."

Derek sighed and took a bite out of the cake. If he got diabetes from this class, he was going to be so annoyed.

The things he did for people.

Hanna smiled in relief, and whispered, "Thank you, wolf."

A good wolf! That was not in any fairy tale. She was going to have to look those up!

I would totally keep sleeping if I could.

I say a good three hours after I've been awake.
