This week around, the Danger Shop had been set up to resemble Fandom. Hey, the sim was in the system, might as well make as much use of it as possible, right?

Atton himself came stomping in more or less on time. "Okay," he yelled, "I had an entire conversation with my mirror this morning that was about as embarrassing as it was traumatizing, which means the island is being a--" ...string of mean Twi'lekki words, apparently, "--and I don't want to deal with it because all of my defense mechanisms are built on a network of carefully constructed lies."

Beat.

"Ugh."

He slapped a blaster onto a table of other blasters.

"So, instead of starting off with the fighting moves I had planned, today, we're shooting things. Silently. Grab one, grab a friend, work on your reflexes."

He pointed at Sparkle. "You, come see me after class, I have something for you. Don't ask questions. That's good advice for everyone here today, actually."

He smashed his fist down on a red button and not entirely realistic-looking monsters suddenly spawned all over town. There.

"Shooting things is much better than me blushing because girls here think I'm hot," Four agreed, then shook his head hard. "There's a reason I don't talk much."

"You're blushing? I probably look like a tomato right now." A flush showed up really well on Vider's fair Asgardian skin. "And I find it impossible to believe the girls wherever you come from don't think you're hot," Vider continued, "and I can't believe I just said that, maybe we'll get lucky and I'll accidentally shoot myself, ragging bone."

"I wonder if getting shot for pretend hurts as much as getting shot for real," Four mused. He traced his own cheek along where Vider's mark was. "Tattoo?" he asked. "I like it."

"It should, if they want people to learn not to do that again." She wasn't counting herself in that group. "And, thanks, but it's required by law, I didn't choose it or anything...except for how I did, because I chose to become a berserker."

"So it divides you out by occupation?" he guessed. "Ours are for self-expression." He smiled. "I went a little crazy with getting them. They're fun. I haven't had a lot of fun in my life until now."

"It's a warning. Like for public safety. People need to know I'm a berserker so they know I could go off. Most tattoos back home are for self-expression, too, or to show what god you follow. And I would really like to see your tattoos sometime ~~except I told Rapunzel in a later common room thread I hadn't yet~~ ragging bone.

Four chuckled. "Well, not now. It's cold." He checked the blaster and rounded a corner, alert for monster...things. "You could go off? Like a bomb?"

"Not a literal bomb. Basically I go into a battle frenzy where I'm really angry and I can't think straight. I could hurt people I don't mean to if I don't control it well enough." She also had her blaster at the ready, although she'd be lucky if she hit anything she was trying to aim at.

"Aim for center mass," Four murmured, nodding his head toward one of the monsters. "That way if you miss, you can still wing them.

He was already falling into teaching mode.

Vider nodded and took a shot at one of the monsters. She missed, but it was better than some of her previous efforts, and she winged it on the second shot. "We don't really use ranged weapons where I come from," she explained. "They're considered cowardly. But I can see how they're useful."

Four shot the thing straight through the eye and kept moving. "We're trained in long-range weapons, hand-to-hand combat and knives," he said. "I think the knife throwing is pretty pointless. It's just for showing off, really, and that's not what violence should be used for."
