Classics/Foreign Lit, 2/28, Period 2

Dream has brought in coffee, tea and juice for his students this morning.

Foreign Lit: Your midterm assignment is to pick one of the works or writers we have studied thus far and write or wiki/Google a 200 word critical reaction. This is due at the end of class Thursday. You may have this class period to begin work.

Classics: As I did last term, we will begin with an oral midterm. You have 20 minutes to review ancient Greek grammar and pronunciation, then please come to my desk one at a time for a brief conversation in Greek.

On Thursday, you will have class time to write a 100 word critical reaction to any piece of Greek literature that we have studied, or a comparable work.

[OOC: The written exams are due for real at some point before the end of spring break; I'll remind you again next week. It's 25 percent of your grade.]

Anders chewed absently on his thumbnail, briefly thinking about the fact that he really should trim it sometime soon. //Do you think it is possible, sir, for my world's gods to actually be the same deities as the Greek gods?//

Dream gave a slight smile, and switched to English.

"They may be like two sides of a die, or two faces of a mirror, or the same river in two spots. Kin, yet not identical."

To his surprise, Anders actually found this answer less cryptic than he might expect. Granted, not by much.

"That makes sense, I guess, sir. Thanks," he said with a smile. "I guess we're done with this part of the midterm, then?"

"We are," Dream confirmed. "The written portion will be due at the end of class on Thursday. Stop by my office tomorrow if you anticipate any problems."

Anders nodded. "I'm free all day to study tomorrow anyway, so I'll probably drop in," he replied, and headed back to his desk looking more than slightly relieved.
