American History: Lies Your Other Teachers Told You [Friday, October 24, 2014]

"Right, I know you don't actually want to be here," Josh began. "You want to be throwing pies at the principal and kissing other students for money and hiding in your room writhing in shame for not having a date to the dance tomorrow and all that teenager-y stuff. So today, we'll talk about the history of the island. What stories did you get told when you first arrived here? What bits of our collective history were the ones that have stuck in your mind the most?"

Yeah, it was a cop-out, but Josh knew no one was really paying attention to classes today anyway. There was junk food to eat and flirting to do!

"That people tended to turn into animals," Flick shared with a snicker. "So, I think they were trying to ease me into things."

"Well, they could have told me about changing genders or that sharks would end up on tornadoes," he pointed out.

"I already think that," he said, shrugging. "But, I group myself into that crowd as well so we're all in good company."
flickofthewrist: (loud as hope)

"For this place?" He shrugged. "The sharks in the tornadoes. Figure go with something so completely out of this world and ridiculous to make my mark."

"Gotta love this place, right?" Flick asked, shrugging. "Keeps you on your toes."

"That some day I would wake up with a form more suited to trousers than skirts."

Celia was still kind of grumpy that that one had come true.
