Faculty Meeting (Friday after classes)

With the semester in full swing, Zoe thought there might be a need for the teachers and administration to talk to each other. Or maybe it was just Friday and Fridays deserved to be celebrated. Either way, a handwavy message had gone out to the staff to meet in the student council room for an informal faculty meeting. Zoe had set up coffee, cold drinks, donuts, and pastries; there was nothing alcoholic yet, but it was still early in the semester.

"Good afternoon," she said once it looked like everyone was there. "I wanted to give everyone a chance to get together now that we're past the introduction phase with the students. Feel free to take some food and talk to each other about whatever you need to." Whether they talked about students or things that actually interested them was up to them.

Hannibal would never entirely get used to Pinkie. But for the moment, he just shook her head and held his box of pastries up to offer her one.

"Ooo, thanks!" Pinkie said, selecting a nice looking pastry and taking a big, cheerful bite out of it. "Yummy!"

Hannibal wasn't even going to try to figure out how she picked things up with hooves. "Thank you," he answered politely, and let it go.

"For what?" Pinkie asked, blinking wide-eyed at him as she bouyed up and down in the draft from the A/C.

For not even pretending to follow the laws of physics.

"For saying it was 'yummy'," Hannibal explained. "I'm pleased you enjoyed it."

"Oo!" Pinkie cheered. "Did you make them?"

She was suitably impressed!

"I did, yes." Hannibal nodded. After a moment, he eyed the balloons that were somehow holding Pinkie up. "Would you like help removing those, or are you planning on floating through the meeting?"

He was going to regret asking, wasn't he?

"Oh, they'll deflate enough to let me down eventually," Pinkie said. "Probably sooner if somepony says something super disappointing."

Because the slow dissipation of helium was totally directly proportional to a pony's emotional state.
