Faculty Meeting (Friday after classes)

With the semester in full swing, Zoe thought there might be a need for the teachers and administration to talk to each other. Or maybe it was just Friday and Fridays deserved to be celebrated. Either way, a handwavy message had gone out to the staff to meet in the student council room for an informal faculty meeting. Zoe had set up coffee, cold drinks, donuts, and pastries; there was nothing alcoholic yet, but it was still early in the semester.

"Good afternoon," she said once it looked like everyone was there. "I wanted to give everyone a chance to get together now that we're past the introduction phase with the students. Feel free to take some food and talk to each other about whatever you need to." Whether they talked about students or things that actually interested them was up to them.

[Hey, look what RTM reminded me to do this week! Open to all staff and OCD free.]

"Lady Ghanima Atreides. Resident professor of esoteric studies, brain-breaking theology, and physical education," she replied cheerfully, nodding her head to him. "Charmed, Doctor Lecter. I would be delighted to try one of your creations."

She paused, blue-on-blue eyes flickering over the box as she selected one. "My goodness. Is this what you're teaching the students, or was this recipe a private project?"

"Private for the moment," Hannibal answered, "although I'm considering having next semester's class cover baking. Theology, esoterica, and physical education? Quite a variety," he said approvingly.

"I had quite the unconventional education, at least by the standards of this time and planet," Ghanima said, smiling. "Duty demands that I share that knowledge, whenever possible."

She took a bite of her pastry, eyes flickering in surprise and delight. "My goodness," she said, once she had properly savored (and swallowed!) her bite. "You didn't mention you were an artist, Doctor."

Hannibal nodded his thanks, pleased. "In several media, but cooking is a particular passion. Are you from another time and planet, then...do you prefer Lady Atreides?"
