Faculty Meeting (Friday after classes)

With the semester in full swing, Zoe thought there might be a need for the teachers and administration to talk to each other. Or maybe it was just Friday and Fridays deserved to be celebrated. Either way, a handwavy message had gone out to the staff to meet in the student council room for an informal faculty meeting. Zoe had set up coffee, cold drinks, donuts, and pastries; there was nothing alcoholic yet, but it was still early in the semester.

"Good afternoon," she said once it looked like everyone was there. "I wanted to give everyone a chance to get together now that we're past the introduction phase with the students. Feel free to take some food and talk to each other about whatever you need to." Whether they talked about students or things that actually interested them was up to them.

"The first ethics teacher was a strange, strange woman," Anakin told him.

Reno scratched his head at that, and then decided that maybe some things were better left a mystery.

"No Emo Rooms," he replied, nodding. "I'll direct any and all cryin' students to a quiet place where they can be alone for a bit, or to my ferret, who will chew on their faces or something."

It was hard to be emo when you were being honked at by a weasel.

"For a minute there I thought you were going to feed them to a ferret, which seemed messy," Anakin replied.

"Not messy, just smelly," Reno clarified. "If the situation gets really dire, though, I might have to bring in Rikku's cat for the job."

Or the duck. They didn't talk about the duck.

"How dire is it looking?" Anakin asked.

"It's lookin' like a bunch of kids who have no idea how to react to seein' a city struggling for a leg up almost a decade-" Gods, had it really been that long? "-after a fairly modern society up and collapsed on itself, yo. Most of 'em are holdin' it together. They're tough kids. But there were a couple of 'em, there are always a couple of 'em, I'm worried about. We'll be actually goin' there within a few weeks, outside of the sim. I guess that'll be the moment of truth, yo."

Hopefully they wouldn't get attacked by monsters on their first day in Edge. That probably wouldn't help much, either.

Anakin nodded. "Let me know the days and I can have my office open, just in case."

Since he was a softie who didn't want to be called on it.

"Thanks," Reno replied with a nod. He wasn't going to make a big deal out of it if Anakin wasn't. "My classes are Monday mornings, but we got probably another week to go before I take 'em to Edge outright. I think I wanna give 'em a rundown on safety, first. Suit 'em up properly, get 'em some armor or somethin' in case we run into something hostile."

Which mostly meant that he was going to tap his girlfriend into making a bunch of cute armbands for his students so that if something spat fire at them, they'd be shielded by it. He was thoughtful like that.
