Faculty Meeting (Friday after classes)

With the semester in full swing, Zoe thought there might be a need for the teachers and administration to talk to each other. Or maybe it was just Friday and Fridays deserved to be celebrated. Either way, a handwavy message had gone out to the staff to meet in the student council room for an informal faculty meeting. Zoe had set up coffee, cold drinks, donuts, and pastries; there was nothing alcoholic yet, but it was still early in the semester.

"Good afternoon," she said once it looked like everyone was there. "I wanted to give everyone a chance to get together now that we're past the introduction phase with the students. Feel free to take some food and talk to each other about whatever you need to." Whether they talked about students or things that actually interested them was up to them.

Bond did nothing so gauche as sipping from a flask.

He'd had a good stiff drink before coming to the meeting.

"Mr. Bond." Hannibal nodded at the other person holding up decent men's fashions. "How is your class going - culture, isn't it?" He held out the box of profiteroles in offer.

"Doctor Lecter." Bond nodded back and selected a profiterole. "Yes. It's early days but I think they're starting to get the ideas behind the class."

"Are you teaching ways of learning about culture, or the dominant local culture in particular?" Hannibal asked.

"More of the first," Bond replied. "I'm using kind of a grab bag method, but hopefully it'll get them thinking about how exactly culture works beyond those people over there are different from us."

"Very useful in a place like this," Hannibal agreed. "And quite a change from Drivers' Education."

"I like to keep my interests varied," Bond said. "Plus it keeps the students on their toes."
