The students who showed up to class today would find a note telling them to meet at the Danger Shop, which was made up to look like a little computer lab. Each desk had a laptop on it, which would not be able to be broken in any way. Thanks, Danger Shop!

"Morning," Kitty greeted them, trying for cheerful when she already knew her week was going to suck. "Welcome to Technology and You. I'm Kitty Pryde, and I don't really care what you call me. In this class, you're going to get to learn more about the technology available on present day Earth so hopefully things will get a little easier for you, and you can get questions answered. This means we're going to be covering things like computers, other electronics, and transportation. We're going all in here.

"So! It's the first week and I get to do the very first introductions you're all going to get sick of. I want to know your name, when and where you're from, and where you think you are in understanding technology. And if there's anything you definitely want to cover, mention that too. Then we're going to work on some stuff, so let's start with you there."

"My name is Edward Kenway. I last lived in Bristol, in the 18th century," Edward said, settling back. "Ah... I know what a tablet is!"

He could barely use it, but still.

"That's good," Kitty said. "Have you actually used it or just seen it?"

"Just seen it," Edward allowed. "But it's a step, isn't it?"

"Exactly," Kitty smiled. "Every little bit helps."

"Nathan Byrn from England," he started, scrunching up his shoulders to fend off the buzzing in his head from being around all this technology. "Not sure when, honestly. I think the time is pretty equal. And I'm...I know what a tablet is and I've used a cellular phone before."

"I'm guessing you're not from this world, then?" Kitty said.

"My world's different, yeah," Nathan confirmed. "But, my family also lived in a very rural area so there wasn't a need for technology either. Not until I went into the city."

"I'm Alex Mack," Alex said, "I'm from Paradise Valley, California. 1996 and I know that phones can now access the internet,"

"That's right, and it's the best. I'll definitely show you how to use that," she promised.

"Celia Bowen, hello again," she said with a little wave. "I'm from New York, most recently, and circa 1884. I've been here since January, though, so...I've used a computer a few times, and I have a friend who tried very enthusiastically to convince me I should have a cell phone, once."

It still wasn't going to happen, Joker. Probably.

"I'd really like to learn about cameras, though," she admitted, shrugging. "I don't know if that's the sort of thing that's covered, but they seem to have improved drastically since my day."

"We can totally do that," Kitty said. "I'd say probably point and shoot cameras and cell phones, sorry."

"I'm not sure I've really been exposed to any other kind here, anyway," Celia admitted with a smile. "We're still leagues ahead of the technology of my time, so I'll take it."

"I'm Cosette. Fauchelevent," she added after a moment; since everyone else seemed to be giving their full name, she might as well give the one she still sometimes forgot she had.

"I've learned my way around how to use my phone and computer for simple things, like looking up information or using the word processor, but I'd like to learn a little more about all the other things I can do with them. I know there's so much more, and I haven't gotten around to finding out about them yet."

The operative word was 'yet.' Nerd.

"Next week," Kitty promised, smiling.

"My name is Ichabod Crane and I came here from Oxford, England, in 1771," Ichabod said. "I have explored the computers in the library, specifically the Wikipedia." He had been shown how to do that, and he hadn't got much further.

"I can also make the computer print the contents on the screen on to paper." He was proud of that.

"Oh, good, you're a little ahead of us, then," Kitty told him.

"I am Jalian d'Arsennette y ken Selvren," Jalian said when it was her turn. "We don't have a name for my home, but you call it California. In," she did the math quickly, "the year 2731 by your current calendar. I have been learning the technology here. I can use an MP3 player and radio, and make the phones and the computers work a little. And I can drive!" she added proudly.

Don't ask her to drive. For everybody's safety.

She shrugged. "I would like to learn how to learn more. And what things are called, so that I can ask questions. And how your technology is put together."

"You mean you want to take stuff apart?" Kitty checked.

"Yes," Jalian agreed. "I don't know how it works!" That was very frustrating.

"We're going to be in the Danger Shop I think every week, and that means you can't break anything, so if you finish your work I have no problem with you taking it apart," Kitty told her.

Jalian grinned and nodded. "Will you explain the parts?"
