Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
The nice thing about the fall welcome picnics was that, well, they didn't typically happen in the fall. It was definitely still summer in Fandom, with sunny skies and a light breeze blowing through the front lawn of the school. Folks had gotten up bright and early to make sure there were plenty of tables, chairs, and blue and gold streamers to decorate the picnic area.
And glitter. So much glitter for the new folks to learn to love.
Getting the food out was the finishing touch, and then everything was ready for the new (and not-so-new) arrivals!
[This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here! Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
Poor Evie, this was not going to convince her at all that it wasn't an asylum for crazy people.
"But unlimited hot water? That's pretty amazing!"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
But the rest of it...
"Oh," Evie said, putting on her best 'humoring the crazy' smile. "Right. Because those things absolutely happen. Sure. And what dosage of meds have they prescribed for you?"
Look, Evie wasn't going to point fingers at other people having delusions. But at least she wasn't going around trying to convince other people they were real.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
Evie looked amused, though.
"Oh, some kind of joke? I'm not always good with jokes here. No cultural references, you know? I probably should have said that I'm not from around here. Or even from this world, actually. A lot of people here aren't."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
No, seriously, Dr. Tanner had said this was like a halfway house, for people who were almost ready to be reintegrated into society. This girl? So not ready for reintegration.
"Is there where the bruises came from? Are there fights between the Earth-people and the not-Earth-people? Aliens against Earthlings? That kind of thing?"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
There was something odd here. The girl seemed just fine with the strangeness Kaylin mentioned, but at the same time she seemed to be - well, not quite rolling her eyes, but...
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
Don't worry, Kaylin. Vengeance would be sweet once Evie realized what the island was really like.
"Oh? Who invades?" Why was she still asking questions? It was like poking at a scab: bad for you but compelling all the same. "More aliens? Angry foreign soldiers? Giant monsters from another dimension? I need to be prepared, you know?"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
Yes, that was guaranteed to make Evie believe on you. Oh yes.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
"You mean the school had some kind of carnival to introduce hug therapy?" She didn't understand the correlation, but it sounded something New Agey enough to be almost plausible. "That's not a thing here, is it? Hugging during group or whatever?"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
Less likely that someone would get kicked in a sensitive place, that way.

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
She shook her head. "I am giving you information about the school, even if you choose not to believe me. You can ask any of the others. But it is a very different place. Are there questions you would like to ask me?"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
"Okay, who are the hardest teachers to have?" Evie asked. "How's our school sports record? Is there a cheerleading team? Who's the head coach? How good is the wifi here--ugh, we have wifi, right? How's the cafeteria food?"
You know, the important questions about school.
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Fall 2014]
The next part she had to think harder about. "I'm not sure what a sports record is or what a cheerleader is, so I can't help you there. Wifi? Is that the internets thing? We have that. And the food? Is probably the best part of this place. There's so much and most of it I'd never had before and it's all good - though not as good as Professor Hannibal's food. Just wait till you try the stuff at the picnic!"
