Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The nice thing about the fall welcome picnics was that, well, they didn't typically happen in the fall. It was definitely still summer in Fandom, with sunny skies and a light breeze blowing through the front lawn of the school. Folks had gotten up bright and early to make sure there were plenty of tables, chairs, and blue and gold streamers to decorate the picnic area.

And glitter. So much glitter for the new folks to learn to love.

Getting the food out was the finishing touch, and then everything was ready for the new (and not-so-new) arrivals!

[This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here! Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Oh. They really have people do that here?" She should have known anything Iron Man sent her to wouldn't have been normal.

"This isn't exactly the...sanest...place ever. It rained fish last week," Four said.

Gwen's eyebrows went straight up.

"Fish. Well, I guess it's not the craziest weather ever," she decided. They were gonna be digging out Manhattan for a whiiiile. "Even though that's still really weird."

"I'm not sure it was on the news other than the radio here," Four admitted.

"They don't read it because most of us don't speak squirrel," Four said, then frowned. "You know, three months ago that would not have been words I would have ever put into a sentence."

"No, real, small ones that will look in your windows and stuff, so close the blinds if you're kind of private about stuff," Four said.

"Okay, I do not want to get perved on by squirrels," Gwen said. "That was not in the brochure. Not that I ever saw a brochure."

"I'd be kind of afraid to see the brochure," Four admitted. "Maybe they have different ones they send to different students."

"People come here from all over," Four said. "I was pretty excited about the constant free food and unlimited electricity for a while. So...maybe there's other stuff that would draw people from your place than mine."

"We had some, but it's a finite resource, so it's only really used at the different faction headquarters, and only until a certain time. You have to ask for permission to keep it on overnight," Four said.
