Choose Your Own Adventure, Thursday afternoon
The class was called 'Choose Your Own Adventure,' right? Well, after getting Kenzi's e-mail, Sparkle was going to step up to bat and choose his. He went and sent up a follow-up e-mail to his fellow classmates informing them that there would be a final this semester after all. Show up to the Danger Shop. Bring a... newspaper?
Apparently it was important. Just roll with it.
When they got there, they would find the place all decked out like a seaport, with Sparkle standing on top of a pirate ship that was flying the Jolly Roger and all. Atop his head, of course he was wearing a newspaper pirate hat.
"So, our esteemed captain be down with a touch 'o the scurvy today," he said, in a thick, piratey drawl. "This means we haven't got her guidance for the last voyage of the good ship, Bonne Aventure." A beat, and then he briefly was dropping the pirate accent to add, "It's a clever name if you know anything about Canadian naval history. Just roll with it. Anyway, this be a reverse-mutiny! Don your pirate caps - which you'll have to make yourselves out of the newspapers I had you bring, and let's be doing all those important mutiny things! First step is gatherin' yer effects. A proper hat, and make a cutlass out of cardboard if ye be so inclined. Second step? Plunderrrrr! Stop by the cafeteria and we'll get our fearless captain some proper gruel and grog to help speed her recovery. Then we can set off to her quarters, to wish her a speedy recovery, and that she'll be gettin' through this tough time with all her teeth intact. Arrrr."
He gave the group a grin, and then hoisted his own cardboard cutlass to the sky.
"For good Cap'n Kenzi! Let's set sail, ye scallywags!"

Re: Lecture!
Or something? Look, she didn't know. Words?
Re: Lecture!
It made it difficult to duel mightily.
Re: Lecture!
Karina gave up and lost her battle against her grin. "I'm still pretty sure I could take you."
She didn't have a hat yet either. So there.
Re: Lecture!
This was clearly meant to cut deep, what with the way he was cackling and all.
Re: Lecture!
Given Karina's record for excelling at whatever she wanted to do... this was more like justifiable arrogance on her part than anything else.
Re: Lecture!
Super lucky!
"Anyway, you'd probably look weird in a pirate hat."
Of course, when they were made of newspaper, anybody would.
Re: Lecture!
Re: Lecture!
Right now, Karina? Sparkle was almost offended! He looked pretty weird all the time, and he was damn proud of it.
Re: Lecture!
"I generally don't even notice anymore," she said honestly. "It's all just... you."
Re: Lecture!
He waved his hand around a little, like that would delineate what the 'thing' was.
"Shit, you'd think people have never seen a teenager before."
Re: Lecture!
A beat.
"Did you get your thing you auditioned for? Or are you still waiting on results?"
Re: Lecture!
He had no idea how the hell that had happened.
"Uh. I mostly did it on a dare," he added.
Re: Lecture!
“Well, hey, congratulations! Dare or not, that’s great. I bet you’ll have a blast.”
She’d say she’d miss him but, well, given that this was the first time they’d talked in weeks, after an argument, and he’d be coming back in the fall, that was a harder thing to say, so she didn’t bother.
(Though she probably would miss him now that she knew he'd be gone instead of just being ignored. Which was just more reason to not say anything in Karina's eyes.)
Re: Lecture!
"I hope so. Like, worst that'll happen is I'll spend a few weeks away from the island and its stupidity, right? I could use a break from that kind of shit, and second summer terms have a track record for that."
Re: Lecture!
...
"... doesn't the weird follow you, though?"
Otherwise, she'd be tempted to bail on it like he was.
Re: Lecture!
And a guy could dream, right?
Re: Lecture!
Re: Lecture!
That was the opposite of what Sparkle wanted!
