Driver's Ed, Period 2, Thursday

When the class entered the Danger Shop they would have noticed the driving range from the past two weeks was gone, and instead they were in what looked more like a classroom with computer terminals set up along the walls. As each student arrived, Bond handed them a booklet.

"Good morning," he greeted them cheerfully. "Now last week, you got a taste of why many places have road rules, this week you'll start learning them." Unless of course, anyone had the initiative and started looking them up online between classes. In which case, Bond approved.

"Now, I've just given you a copy of the Maryland driver's manual, which you may keep, as it has the rules most applicable to here and now, but you should keep in mind that different countries, states, or time, have different rules." Like driving on the proper side of the road. "So you should also make sure to learn those suitable to where and when you're from."

"Today we'll be spending the first half of the class studying the manual, and you can also take an online tutorial of the knowledge test you'd need to pass to apply for an actual learner permit. Once you've passed that tutorial you can spend the second half of the class redoing last week's driving exercise, only attempting to follow the road rules this time."

Reading, Jalian could do. Her written English was much better than her spoken. There were still a number of unfamiliar terms, though.

When it came to the test, she was a little awkward with the computer, but she'd seen enough other people use them by now to make her way through. And the questions were ridiculously easy, even if they made little sense.

Now, could she drive already?
