Sex Cultures: 6th Period

"Welcome, class. Now, up until this point, we have been looking at sex as a part of other societies. About how about the societies that sex creates?

Our first area of study will be the study of sex itself."

Lecture on the History of Sexology

Discussion: "Which pioneer or even current sexologist would you like to learn more about, and why do they interest you?"

"No homework this weekend I want you unbroken for Tuesday, mwa ha ha"

"I hate those little, yappy dogs," he mutters.

"And you're probably right. It's better not to have any more little ones, at least while we're living in sin," he says with a slight grin.

"No," he draws out slowly. "I have a few sitting in the lab, actually, so you wouldn't need to buy one. I think you'd make a beautiful Viking bride."

"Okay, well then, I guess we'll have to go with something more typical."

Seriously, no hints of anything across his face. One could say it was zomgevil, even.

"Is that a proposal, Dr. Grissom?"

Her tone is still light and her hands are still petting Honey gently. But her eyes...they are serious.

"I'd call it more of a statement of intent," he says just as seriously, keeping his eyes locked with hers.

"The ring needs to be sized down to a seven," she says, seemingly random.

Yes, she tried it on when he wasn't looking.

"Intent is a good thing to know."

He looks vaguely surprised, but keeps the steady demeanor together for the most part.

"I can put that on my to-do list?" he asks.

And it's doubtful her smile has ever been that bright.

"You should probably come here and kiss me, then," he says with the biggest, most wicked grin possibly ever. "I prefer concrete evidence."

She kisses him.

"Yes."

He catches her eyes, and his are suddenly very serious, all the light humor of the conversation suspiciously absent.

"I love you. I have for a long time, and I always will," he says softly, reaching up to touch her hair.

"I know. And I love you. I have for longer than I can say and always will."

Her voice is steady. She's not tearing up though. Shut it zomg.

"Yes, I will marry you. But can you ask me first?"

He looks blissed out, but slightly concerned.

"You have no idea how badly I want to, right now, but I want to do this right." He cups her cheek lightly.

"I should actually have the ring on hand, and it should fit you, and I should call your brother and ask him for your hand..."

He looks up to her face to gage her reaction, because if she looks even the slightest bit unhappy with that idea, he plans on dropping to one knee before she can blink again.

"Don't ask my brother for permission. I'm not his property," she says a bit pointedly.

"And since when have we ever done things the conventional way?"

"Okay," Gil shakes his head quickly in agreement.

He stands, picking up Honey before placing her back down in the chair behind him. He takes a few steps toward Sara until they're standing just inches apart, noses almost touching, and he takes both of her hands in his, intertwining their fingers effortlessly.

"Sara Lauren Sidle, you are every notion that I have ever had of beauty, intelligence, loyalty, faith, strength, and love, personified. I can, and have, imagined a life without you, and it's the only thing in this world that truly frightens me. I love your seemingly endless reserves of passion, your brilliant logic, those legs..." he smirks, trying to keep his voice from wavering. "Your honesty that never wavers, your dedication to what is right, your entire soul, and I don't ever want to spend another day without you by my side again. As my partner, my equal, my love, and my wife. Will you marry me, Sara?"

That thing the narrator said about her not crying?

So is not applying now.

"Yes! Yes, I will marry you!"

And she is kissing him again, hungrily and joyful.

He may be a little misty as well. His eyes have a certain suspicious sheen.

He releases one of her hands, wrapping an arm around her to hold her tightly, kissing her deeply, barely comprehending his good fortune. He wonders if this is what lottery winners feel like, but he can't imagine anyone else being this happy and stunned at the same time.

He sighs into the kiss, his mouth still forming a smile, and he's so caught up in the moment that he doesn't notice Honey has escaped the chair until he feels something tugging at his pant leg.

And then the puppy starts to happily bark and yip.

"Yes, Honey, we know we shouldn't be doing this here," Sara tells her, bending to pick her up.

"I don't think I'm weird enough to have our dog be a bridesmaid."

"I think you're weird enough," he laughs, reaching out to pet the dog's head. "But whatever you'd like, dear."

"I suppose it was be remiss of me to turn down the opportunity to spend some quality time with my fiancee," he says with a smile, leaning in to kiss her again.

"Hold on, hand me your phone."
