Want to be a Hero?, Friday, 4th Period

Cara had her class meet her in the Danger Shop this week, in front of a simulation of the preserve.

"We're going on a quest this week," she announced with very little preamble. "I'll be leading you through one end of the preserve to the other, with the aim of making it there by the end of class. If we make it in time you get cake."

Considering that just the week before, she'd had them meet outside the actual preserve, clearly there was nothing to be at all suspicious of here.

"And how many friends did she have?" Four checked. "We'd need to factor in people who might either help us beat the bandits or be complete deadweights to be carried off."

"Five," Cara said. "But they're Minders, which means they don't fight. At all."

Because everyone should have to deal with that particular joy.

Four made a little face. "Oh. Some of those. How well armed are the bandits?"

"Swords, cudgels," Cara told him. "No bows that she saw."

"We can use any arms we brought with us, plus rocks and sticks and whatever we steal from them?" Four checked.

"Yes. Provided you don't kill them." Not that Cara had that much objection to killing someone trying to kill you, but she apparently wasn't supposed to encourage it.
