Try Not to Die [Thursday, May 15, 2014]

"Hello everyone," Anakin said, sipping from his cup of coffee, "today we're going to a slightly more challenging world than Coruscant was."

Aren't you excited, class? Be excited!

"This one is called Kashyyyk--with three y's--and it is the homeworld of a species called Wookiees--with two o's and two e's. They look like this," he said, flipping up a holographic image on the wall of Portalocity's lobby, "and adults are normally at least 2 meters tall and 125 kilograms. They are also fiercely intelligent as well as terrifyingly efficient warriors. It's not wise to upset a Wookiee, especially if you value your limbs not being ripped off and used to beat you unconscious with."

Thank you, Anakin.

"The planet has four continents, and they are all covered with forests made up of kilometer-tall wryoshr trees--" another holo, "--that you will get to climb so I hope none of you have height problems. The climate is hot and humid, but the gravity is standard. Like last week, you will race each other to complete two tasks before reporting back to me not missing any limbs or having fallen out of a tree and several kilometers to the surface of this planet where you will certainly have been eaten." He smiled. "May the Force be with you. You may begin."

Don't all go charging through the portal at once now, class...

It took her all of .02 seconds to pick the Fix It option. Karina was not mechanic, though she could maintain her bike just fine, thanks, but between two choices, both of which had a terrifying alien that could rip her arms off and kill her, she was going to take the one that also didn't involve strange alien food with god knew what in it.

Needless to say, her own nerves and her absolute inability to understand the alien's directions, meant that she lost every bit of time she'd gained from having no issues with the zipline. She took forever.

On the bright side, she did not get her arms ripped off. Though she was pretty sure she'd come close to it.

Karina was opting not to dwell on that. Much.

Barry took the fix it option again but ended up taking his time going through the hyperdrive engine and getting it set up.

And almost got into an argument with the mechanic when he asked to take the spare parts with him.

After finding out eating the stew was not an option, Emma decided to go for the fix it option. However, it seemed that all her efforts were only making it worse just like LJ!. Eventually, though, she managed to getting it working to the mechanics satisfaction...or he just gave up, Emma couldn't really tell.

Nathan immediately chose the Mix It option. He was a much better chef than a mechanic. It took him some time to get the stew right because reading was still not a thing and he needed some very simplistic instructions but he did get the stew made.

And he did no eat it.

Andros chose Fix It, and while he didn't speak Shyriiwook, but pointing and gestures were universal, and he had enough experience with the Megaship's engines to be able to figure it out pretty quickly and be on his way withoutirritating the Wookiees.

Kira heard the word "chef" and noped so hard it was almost physical. After last week's food adventure, anything else had to be better... except Kira didn't know anything about mechanical engineering. She was glad she was kind of adorable and difficult to get mad at, but it still took her forever.

Kaylin decided to try fixing things. It had worked for her last time. But the third time the Wookiee had yowled at her, she'd put her hands on her hips and yelled back. Which didn't go over terribly well.

Though several of them thought she was amusing.

Then one of them cut their arm badly on something and before she knew it she was standing over him healing it. It was strange and she'd never healed something like one of them before and after Tuesday morning it took a bit more out of her than she'd expected.

When she finally managed to pick herself up off the floor, the head mechanic helped her finish whatever the heck they were working on, then waved her on her way.
