Kenzi was so looking forward to this, you don't even know.

So as people filed into the classroom, she pointed them to the various arts & crafts tables, printer, laminator, and huge Maryland I.D. billboard that she'd put together and printed out with a camera in front of it.

"Welcome to Choose Your Own Adventure!" She beamed. "For those of you who don't know me, I'm Toni Soprano." She flicked up a Canadian I.D. "At least according to this piece of plastic. According to this one, I'm Ninotchka Alexandrovich." It had a really convincing Russian sickle on it, too. "Now, for some of the things we're doing this semester, you're going to need a legit-looking piece of plastic of your own. So pick a birthday -- one that's before 1993, that'll help -- and if you don't know what that means, ask your neighbor." She paused. "Or me, after you do a couple tries."

"After, I'm going to the Horseshoe Casino here in Baltimore. If you don't know what a casino is or Baltimore is, you can ask when we're on the bus." She grinned, then added, "And you don't have to come with me! Or any of us! That's where the 'choice' thing comes in. But wouldn't it be a shame to make all these, and not see if they work?"

Sparkle aimed to please!

He also aimed to just dick around for this whole semester. So far he was doing well on both counts, apparently.

"What's wrong with Ivan? Ivan," Sparkle sniffed, looking faux-affronted as he crossed his arms over his chest, "is a perfectly respectable name, you know."

"It's the Joe Blow of names. John Smith. Or John Johnson, really. At least in Moscow." Kenzi perched on a table, legs dangling. "Not that anyone here will get it. But hey! That means it's not your fault if it doesn't look legit! You just got here to America!... from Canada."

"Fresh off the boat, right?" Sparkle laughed. "Anyway, it's a more believable name than the one I already have, isn't it?"

"Point to the guy named for starlight," Kenzi said with a grin. She sighed happily, picking up her Toni Soprano ID. "These things are so much fun. And did you know there was a casino in Baltimore before this? I totally would have headed over there before if I'd heard of it!"

"Isn't that kind of a major city thing?" Sparkle smirked faintly, shrugging his shoulders. "I mean, I knew about it, but I haven't been yet. Looking forward to it."

"I have to check on stuff there more often, this island's turning me native," Kenzi almost-complained. "Hey, you wanna TA for this some week? Only if you want to," she added.

"Heh, don't see why not," Sparkle replied with a shrug. "I'm not actually doing the TA thing for anybody this summer so far, I can play TA any time you need me to."

And it would only be marginally weird, temporarily TAing for a friend.

"Coolness! Is Dr. Lector teaching anything foodie this term?"

Because if he was, she was going to be hanging out in that faculty staff room to try and scrounge leftovers.

"Nah," Sparkle replied. "I think he's teaching a music thing with, um, that guy with the..."

Sparkle waved his hand vaguely in front of his face.

"I didn't take it this semester around, though. Figured I'd take it easy, and if this and a beginner dance class don't count as easy, I don't know what does."

"Oh, Jonothan. Hunh. Yay. I can bug both of them!"

That's why they gave her an office!

"Beginner dance? And yeah, this isn't the most strenuous thing ever. But it's super-useful to all these people who just got here from Past Time Zone, Another Planet, Middle of Nowhere."

"There is something kickass about pestering the teachers," Sparkle agreed, and then grinned a little and reached to poke her in the side. "Pester. Pester. Pester."

He did it because he cared, Kenzi.

"Pester."
