Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

With all the rain that had blown through earlier in the week, the school administration had been worried that welcome picnic day would be wet and gloomy. Thankfully, it was sunny, warm, and beautiful outside, and everything had been set up just in time for the shuttle of new folks to arrive. There was a buffet table of food and drinks waiting, along with the list of Big and Little Siblings, the list of roommates, and more name tags than they'd probably need for three picnics.

Also, there wasn't a single flower out on the lawn after last weekend. Just saying.

With everything in place, it looked like it was time for the first summer term to begin!

[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You still want to?" Kenzi asked. She didn't do shy, but she did do uncertain. "I mean, I do. But you don't have to, you know?"

"But it'll be neat!" Cecil grinned. "And you're the teacher, so you can make everyone go!" Just think of the power, Kenzi!

Kenzi gave him a slow, wicked grin. "I can make it fun for them..."

Oh, man, did she have an idea now.

"How's your break going?"

"Oh, it's, um. Well, you know. It's going. What about you, are you having a good time?"

Look at that subject change! Smooth, right?

Kenzi gave him a penetrating look, then poked him in the arm. "Do I have to get out some booze for you? Or beat someone up? Or, you know, get Bo to beat someone up?" 'Cause she'd do it, yup.

"I...well, I don't think so? About the beating up. Booze might be good, I guess. But you're supposed to drink to forget, right? But that'd be good, but maybe not, because what happens when you forget really important things? Or things that you'd think would be important, right? I mean..."

Yeah, he was just going to babble at you, Kenzi.

"Then it's a sugar thing, not a booze thing," Kenzi decided, looking concerned. "Lots and lots of it. Who forgot what? Or what did you forget, dude?"

"Nothing!" Cecil protested. "I mean, I can't have, right?" A thought occurred to him. "Oh! My other selves!" He nodded. "I bet one of them just...left a few things behind in Night Vale. That's possible, right?"

"Well, I'd guess. Sure," Kenzi agreed, bewildered and having no clue what was going on. "So yeah. Could happen?"

Cecil sighed and smiled. It was still a bit shaky, because he was mostly trying to convince himself, but it was there. "That explains it, then! Just some leftovers from before. Oh, sure, they couldn't have left the tattoos or the tentacles." He rolled his eyes.

"Do you really think we'll be able to get the right kinds of tattoos?"

"Maybe? It's worth trying," Kenzi said, now thinking that she was definitely going to find someplace that would do that.

Everyone, you have Cecil to thank for that.

"Are you okay? Are you sure you don't want ice cream? Or cake?"

Who wouldn't want to thank him for that? That would be awesome!

He grinned a bit more truly. "Who doesn't want ice cream or cake?"
