Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
With all the rain that had blown through earlier in the week, the school administration had been worried that welcome picnic day would be wet and gloomy. Thankfully, it was sunny, warm, and beautiful outside, and everything had been set up just in time for the shuttle of new folks to arrive. There was a buffet table of food and drinks waiting, along with the list of Big and Little Siblings, the list of roommates, and more name tags than they'd probably need for three picnics.
Also, there wasn't a single flower out on the lawn after last weekend. Just saying.
With everything in place, it looked like it was time for the first summer term to begin!
[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
"The people here are nice," she offered. "They're pretty understanding about little eccentricities and big differences alike, which is nice. Everyone is so different here, I suppose nobody really has any room to throw stones."

That seemed like it might be a good thing. Maybe Kaylin wouldn't be half as thrown by this place as Elsa had been.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
It would be getting much crazier when she got back.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
Elsa pulled in a sharp breath and just sort of held it, staring at her new roommate as if perhaps she'd grown a second head.
"People killing other people with magic happens frequently where you live, then?"
SEE, THIS WAS WHY ELSA WAS A SHUT-IN.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
Someone had grown up in a place where life was way too short and not of very much value. It's why she wanted to become a Hawk.
"Magic's just another way. Trickier though 'cause it's harder to tell who did it."
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
Elsa didn't get out much. But then, Arendelle was a fairly peaceful kingdom overall.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
Kaylin blushed a little and looked down. "Where I grew up it was just a fact of life. And working with the Hawks to solve crimes... well... I forget that people who didn't grow up in the fiefs don't know what it's like to have your life not mean very much. I'm sorry if I upset you."
She didn't apologize much, so it might not ahve come out as smoothly as she meant it.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
Or, say, if she was going to become Queen someday.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2014]
She'd had to accept that a very very long time ago.
"I hope it's not really unfair here."
