Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

With all the rain that had blown through earlier in the week, the school administration had been worried that welcome picnic day would be wet and gloomy. Thankfully, it was sunny, warm, and beautiful outside, and everything had been set up just in time for the shuttle of new folks to arrive. There was a buffet table of food and drinks waiting, along with the list of Big and Little Siblings, the list of roommates, and more name tags than they'd probably need for three picnics.

Also, there wasn't a single flower out on the lawn after last weekend. Just saying.

With everything in place, it looked like it was time for the first summer term to begin!

[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"No, a standing flamingo. Or, well...osmingo, we've been saying." He scritched Foucault's head. "I'm Cecil. Your big sibling."

"Funny. I don't remember having an older brother," Barry joked as he offered his hand for a handshake. " Nice to meet you Cecil."

"And I don't remember having a younger one," Cecil joked back as best he could. It was probably a bit weak, seeing as it was part of his problems right now, but. Well, no sense in making this weird. "Nice to meet you, too!" He shook Barry's hand.

"So, where are you from? Oh, and when?" Cecil flopped down nearby, Foucault joining him.

"2009 but from a different dimension than most earths." Barry said with a shrug. "Though from what I understand of Fandom my earth is significantly less fucked up. What about you?"

"Oh! Well, it's 2014 now. So...not all that different, except maybe you want to catch up on movies and music and things? I'm from pretty much now, allowing for the unreality of time and the fact it moves slower at home than here and everything. I'm from Night Vale; I don't suppose you've heard of it?"

"Dude I'm already torrenting everything since I stepped onto this island," Barry chuckled. "I'm probably going to have to do a binge on shows just to catch up. And I've never heard of Night Vale. Any different for here?"

"Not really." Cecil shrugged. "We're mostly pretty normal, I think. Except my boyfriend, ♥Carlos♥, he says we're the most scientifically interesting town in the US! And he's a scientist, so he should know. Do you know much science?" he asked curiously.

Clearly not knowing what he was getting into.

Barry let out a little chuckle.

"Yeah, I know science pretty well even though my hair isn't as perfect as Carlos." He replied smugly. "What makes your little town so advanced?"

"Oh, I don't know if we're advanced, just interesting." Cecil tried to think about all the things ♥Carlos♥ had made a fuss over. "Um. The earthquakes that nobody feels, the clocks aren't real, the instruments beeping like anything at the radio station, I think he said the portal with the pterodactyls flying out was interesting, Old Woman Josie's cornbread, the lights over the Arby's...oh! And the house that doesn't exist. Even though it's right between two other houses just like it, so it would make more sense for it to exist than not, but it clearly doesn't."

Barry blinked a couple of times at that and began to work out ways in his head how these things could occur.

"Dude. That just sounds fucking strange..."

He pondered that a few seconds more.

"I don't suppose you guys do field trips there?"

"We did when I went to school. Mostly just to the scrub lands and the sand wastes, though." Cecil shrugged. "Oh! Did you mean go there from here? Not really? But I did take a couple friends home for Spring Break."
