Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

With all the rain that had blown through earlier in the week, the school administration had been worried that welcome picnic day would be wet and gloomy. Thankfully, it was sunny, warm, and beautiful outside, and everything had been set up just in time for the shuttle of new folks to arrive. There was a buffet table of food and drinks waiting, along with the list of Big and Little Siblings, the list of roommates, and more name tags than they'd probably need for three picnics.

Also, there wasn't a single flower out on the lawn after last weekend. Just saying.

With everything in place, it looked like it was time for the first summer term to begin!


[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Hi!" Yes, there was a lot of relief there. "Oh good, I was worried for a second. I'm new to the whole roommate concept. But I'm going to be a good one. I mean, I'm going to try." Kira, honey, just stop. "So, did I see you on the shuttle?"

Alex smiled, "I'm sure you'll be fine," she assured her, "I was on the shuttle over here so it's possible you did see me,"

"And we both survived, so we're off to a good start." Seriously, who decided Anakin and Jono should control anything mechanical? "Did you have to come far to get here?"

Someone had figured out a diplomatic "where the heck are you from?" question.

"That's true," Alex grinned. "Well it's the longest I've ever travelled, til now I'd never left the state," she said, "I'm originally from California. Paradise Valley to be exact. How about you?"

Oh thank goodness, someone from this planet. "I'm from New York," she said. "But my family's from California. I've traveled before, but never without my parents, so this is kind of exciting."
