Plus We Have a Motorcade, Thursday, April 17, 2014, 1st period
"Morning," Josh said, sipping from his mug of coffee out in front of a big white house.
Erm.
White House. It was field trip time! "This is the last class before the final, so I thought I should take you to where it all happens."
And to show off that he still had this kind of access. Cough. "This is the White House. We can get a tour today because President Santos is off in Texas for the Easter holidays."
A leggy blonde woman approached with a clipboard and a ready smile. "Hi, everyone. I'm Donna Moss and Josh has been bitching to me about you all semester."
"I haven't been bi--"
Donna cut him off with the ease of years of practice at this. "I'm the First Lady's Chief of Staff, so instead of just getting to see the West Wing, where the President's staff works, you can also see the East Wing, where I work."
"No one likes the East Wing very much," Josh interjected.
"No one cares what you think, Josh."
Josh grinned at her. "Right then. We'll go through the White House and I will regale you of tales of glory, and then we will eat the finest muffins and bagels in all the land."
"...you never said anything about needing bagels, Josh."
"Well, I am now."
"You think I can just make bagels appear by wishing for them?"
"I do believe in interns, Donna. I do, I do, I do."

Inside the White House
"This is the West Wing of the White House," Josh began. "Over there is the Situation Room, which I won't take you into because you all don't have Top Secret clearance and you don't need to know about what's in that room."
He lowered his voice. "The world's coolest Power Point presentations, FYI." He smiled. "In a city where how cool you are depends a lot on how close your building is to this one, the same thing applies to how close your office is to the one that really matters. Let's go to my old office."
He was dying to show them.
Chief of Staff's Office
Josh walked in like he still owned the place (the current occupant would thoroughly disagree with that) and pointed to a white door. "That leads to the Oval Office," he said, "which makes up for this being pretty much a jumped-up closet. As Chief of Staff, I used to help the President mold the policy and message of his term, as well as being in charge of pretty much every person in this building."
"Not the East Wing."
"Thank you, Donna, but them too. The President is in charge, not the First Lady."
"Oh, did I miss you getting elected president? Congratulations!"
This could go on for a while. Ask questions if you have any!
The Oval Office
He sat on the sofa. "The artwork is picked out by the President himself from everything the Smithsonian has in stock. They will not let you move the Kittyhawk in here, though. This President might've asked."
He smiled. "He's a pilot. Go ahead and look around! Don't touch anything."
The Press Office
It helped that each chair had a little brass plate on it to tell everyone who's chair was whose.
The Blue Room
"This is true," Donna admitted.
If there are any other tourist-y parts of the White House you want to see, here's the place to ask to see them!
Donna's Office
"This is where I help craft the First Lady's message," Donna said. "Mrs. Santos is focused on early education for children, so we do a lot of reading for preschool classes. If you have any book suggestions, I will gratefully take them. If I have to read one more Suess book, I will completely lose it."
Talk to Josh!
