Library, All Day Thursday

Special Collections was still locked and not budging its doors one bit, which was fine by Constantine. One less thing to worry about.

The semi-translucent girl with pink hair he saw stalk through the locked doors with an armload of books? He was going to chalk it up to another library ghost. Although he'd swear she could see him, unlike some of the others...

The Fandom High Library was open for business.

This time, Elizabeth had taken her time to scavenge together breakfast. She had a bowl of cucumbers and bread and a little oil.

She snacked from it while away from the books, however. There were some things she wasn't foolish enough to try.

Elsa was in to poke through the books again, wearing her armor (http://art-calavera.tumblr.com/post/75918369619/due-to-a-friendly-request-here-have-an-armored) again today and humming as she turned pages.

It had been a bit of an eventful trek, getting back to here from the radio station. She'd at least washed the bear blood off before going anywhere near the books.

Jeff stared at her. "That's... a new look for you. I like it."

"It's practical," Elsa replied, turning a faint smile toward him. "There are monsters running around out there trying to eat people whole. People should hardly be heading out there without some sort of protection."

So, you know, a suit of armor. Because practicality, that's why.

"Mmmmmmnyuh-huh," Jeff agreed. "And you... just happened to have a suit of armor in your armoire, hiding behind the elegant ballgowns?"

He shrugged apologetically, and waggled his finger at her. "Zap! You're it."

"What? Zap? No, I--" Elsa stared at him for a moment, and then looked down at what she was wearing. "-- I really should have one of these in my armoire, if don't usually."

Right. Because she'd have even the faintest idea of how to put it on.

"On this island? I'm starting to think everyone should," Jeff agreed. "But no, I don't think normal-you has ever even thought of wearing a suit of armor."

"No?" Elsa frowned a little more. Really, she couldn't imagine that. "I almost hate to ask what 'normal' me is like. Especially since I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one who's not myself right now, if you're right..."

It was getting difficult to keep track, really.

Jeff sighed. "Let's be reeeal honest, here: I don't think there's anyone left who's their usual self, anymore. The you I remember is a lot more shy. And... not armored."

"Well... if and when we fix this thing, that's going to have to be the first thing she remedies."

Really. Shy? No armor? Had this Elsa ever seen what the world was like out there?

... Her heart would probably break a little if she had any idea why not.

"And you..." She frowned a little, and her voice softened a little. "I read about you finding out about how you've changed. I'm sorry."

"Nah, it's fine," Jeff told her. "It's not surprising that I'm not the me everyone remembers, you know? And Eleanor... well, hopefully we'll get her back to normal soon." He shrugged. "At least now I understand... whatever it was that you said about my legs."

"'Joker, your legs?'" Elsa couldn't help but smile a little bit. "Your nickname is Joker, Jeff. It's how you introduced yourself to me. As for the rest of it..." She shrugged. "We'll fix it. We have to."

Simple as that.

"We'd better," Jeff agreed. "You and me, we made out okay with the changes. Other people... they're not so lucky." He heaved a sigh. "...Oh, and all the monsters outside, and rivers of lava and stuff. That's pretty bad, too."

He gave Elsa a thoughtful look. "Not sure what I think of actually calling myself 'Joker'," he decided. "I mean, it has a ring to it, but... I dunno. Maybe I'll go with 'Maverick'."

"Maverick? That is quite the difference from 'Joker'," Elsa noted. "I mean, I can see it. You are a bit unorthodox..."

She meant that kindly, Jeff.

"We'll see. Maybe I'll get used to the name? Or maybe it won't be an issue for much longer."

Jeff was at his usual table again, with his pile of books, but he was too stressed out to pay attention to them. He tried to, and just ended up passing out.

And drooling on an old and possibly valuable book.

LOCKED. Try to get in all you want, but that door isn't budging, and Constantine will kick you out if he catches you attempting to enter without permission.
