Library, Wednesday

Zeela had come back more tanned after their week away. Sholeh had come back more freckled with a sunburn peeling over her nose. It was incredibly unfair if you asked her.

As much as she'd enjoyed the week away, Sholeh was glad to be back amongst the books of the library. She'd missed her weekly shift, even if a week away meant very little work needed to be done this week. That was okay. It meant that she could curl up behind the counter and page through the newest arrivals. Hey, she needed to keep abreast of what the library offered, right?

In the afternoon, Squall headed in to the library. He looked around for the crowd of researchers huddled over stacks of books, and... didn't seen anyone.

After a few moments of scanning the room, he headed up to the counter. "Is no one researching the crisis yet?"

Sholeh looked up at his entrance, her 'welcome to the library!' smile fading as she took in his words. "The crisis?" she asked, sounding more timid than she would have liked. "Umm...are we having one? I'm sorry, I just got back into the library today..."

"A portal of some kind opened in the park and attacked a resident," Squall informed her. "Has no one else experienced anything similar?"

"I haven't heard anything," Sholeh said, paling a little and sitting down. "Is that--are they okay? They weren't killed or anything, were they? What came through?"

Look, Sholeh had a bad habit of getting murdered during crises. That was the kind of thing that stuck with a person.

"I don't know if anything came through," Squall admitted. "I didn't see it for myself. It... altered someone's powers, somehow. Turned them against him."

That much, at least, Sholeh doubted she had to worry about. Her only 'power' was sharing a body with her older sister. Not really something that that could be turned against her.

"I can look to see if we have any books about that kind of thing?" Sholeh offered, a little awkwardly. "But you're the first person that's come in here looking. Sorry."

Yes, she was apologizing for what other people weren't doing. Habit.
