"So this weekend was the one right after Valentine's Day, which meant that many of you had some unexpected visitors," Anakin began. "Children, in some cases completely impossible children, with expectations about how your life is currently playing out, which might be wildly different than the reality. That can take some delicate negotiations, especially if your co-parent is someone you aren't dating or, worse yet, can't stand. How did your weekend go? Did you get through it without anyone bursting into tears? Do you have the first clue of what I'm talking about?"

"I didn't have any children show up," Mercy said. "So I pretty much just stayed out of the way."

"Have you had any in previous weekends?" Anakin asked.

Mercy shook her head, again not sure if she was relieved or disappointed.

Disappointed looked like it was winning, though.

"No. Maybe I'm just not going to ever have kids."

"Maybe they're just too smart to go jumping through strange portals," Anakin replied with a smile.

Mercy grinned. "Could be. Though the coyote in me always seemed to get me in trouble as a kid."

"Then you might have overcompensated in your parenting," Anakin said. "I know I jump at impulses my children have that remind me of things that got me into trouble."

"If I could be half as good a parent as Bryan and Evelyn, I'll be happy," Mercy said with a sad smile. "But yeah, probably a little overprotective."
